When we arrived at Miami Cafe, the wait was actually pretty decent — not too long. We figured, if the food is good, it’ll be worth it. Big mistake.
Once we were finally seated, we were immediately told to get back up and go to the register to place our order. That made no sense to me — why seat people just to make them stand in line again? But fine, we went along with it.
Here’s the kicker: when you go to pay, the system asks you for a 20% tip — before you even get your food, and despite the fact that no table service is provided. It’s basically a self-service, fast-food-style setup where you do everything yourself. So… what exactly is the tip for? The audacity alone should have been the warning sign.
Now, on to the nightmare that was our food
First red flag: my sandwich came out completely wrong — I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese with ham scrambled into the egg, and instead got a turkey sandwich. But worse? I opened the sandwich in front of the server as soon as he placed it down and right there, clear as day — a long hair stuck inside the eggs.
When I brought it to Raul’s attention, instead of apologizing, he argued with me, insisting there was no hair. I had literally just opened it in front of him. Then he proceeds to say the meat inside was ham — it was clearly turkey. I told him again, and only then he goes to the kitchen, comes back, and says, “Well, that’s the only turkey ham we have.” Excuse me? I never asked for turkey anything.
Reluctantly, I gave them a chance to fix it. Big mistake. The replacement sandwich was still wrong — turkey again, scrambled into the egg this time. Completely careless.
Meanwhile, my husband’s steak was bland and flavorless — and that was the best thing we got. My niece’s chicken sandwich was an abomination: burnt, dry, and the cheese on it was so overcooked it had turned black. Not crispy — burnt.
And my poor son’s pancakes? Dry, gritty, and inedible. How do you ruin pancakes?
To add insult to injury, when I went to the register to ask for the sandwich (you know, the one with hair in it) to be removed from the bill, Raul tells me they “rectified the issue” by making me a new sandwich which still came with turkey the second time . Rectified?! No, you didn’t. You served me food with hair in it, ignored my order, and argued with me instead of owning up to the mistake.
This place is the definition of unsanitary and unprofessional. Do not eat here. If the service doesn’t ruin your experience, the food (and whatever’s in it) definitely will. Over rated and over priced !! I would never spend another dollar in this...
Read moreCame to Miam today and wanted to try the avocado toast . I asked for a side of eggs which was an up charge or $5 (that’s fine I understand it’s a type of protein) I also asked if they can add feta cheese and the very nice girl said she could type it in as a request . A lady named Candilla or Camila came behind her and told her to upcharge me $3 . I told her nvm because that would now put a $13 toast to $21 plus they have a restaurant fee charge. Mind you the food was straight … I’ve had better avocado toast. I will say the pancakes were delicious. Though for the service I can say other wise . The young girl at the register was polite but the lady who claimed to “not” be the manager but was telling everyone what to do a was very unpleasant. As if up charging me wasn’t enough I saw a group of young girls come in and order food . While the girls were eating this “not the manager “ woman noticed something on their plate and made the cashier go and up charge them for something after the transaction was already done and they were already eating . What type of etiquette is that ? To charge for something after the fact is disrespectful then I asked her for her name she didn't want to give it to me. I asked another employee what her name was and she looked nervous because the lady was staring at her . The young girl then said “I’m sorry I can’t speak for her” I then said “ can you please give me her name?” She softly said Camila or candela something with a C . Makes no sense. How are you in your position and you can't give your name when a customer asks? Whether she’s the manager or not , she was calling the shots at this location(coral gables ) so I wanted to know her name for a review . She was a woman in her late 40’s ,blonde hair and seemingly only spoke Spanish . The experience was not so pleasant. She was rude. The other staff seemed nice...
Read moreI kept seeing this place all over social media so I decided to give it a try while I was in the area with my partner. We walked in and none of the 3 employees greeted us or even smiled at us. We didn’t know what to do so we just walked up to the register and started looking at their menu. One of the employees then walked to the other side of the register and just stood there. No “hello, how you doing, is this your first time here?” None of that. Just standing there waiting on me to tell him what I wanted I guess. So I ordered the Dulce de leche pancakes and the omelet. They brought out the omelet 10 minutes before the pancakes so I had to watch my partner eat until I got my food. They bring the food and don’t say anything or follow up to see if you need anything else or nothing. Very unfriendly staff. I had to walk up to ask for things. The nerve of them to request a tip before you even get your food. I wanted to walk out after the unpleasant welcome but I already paid for parking and was very hungry. The food however is what made me give them 2 stars instead of 1. The food was amazing! Best pancakes I ever had and the omelet was cooked to perfection! I guess it’s true what they say. You get the best food where they have the worse customer service. I won’t be coming to this one because I noticed there are 3 locations so I will try another Miam because the food was perfect. I hope the other locations trained their staff on...
