I don’t know how to truly describe my amazing experience at this place. My mom and I stayed at the Courtyard a minute walk away and I happened to stumble upon this hidden gem. It was destiny since you wouldn’t even know it’s there if you’re from out of town. Immediately I was drawn to the beautiful design of flowers around the entrance. I then saw an array of the most exquisite pastries and felt like I had just been transported to Europe. The pastries and desserts were all so beautifully presented and displayed. They even had mini fans spinning to keep any flies away from the pastries they bake daily and that you can even watch through the glass window showing the pastry kitchen. We ordered the baguette that was made perfectly and the house butter tasted like heaven. We also ordered the daily special that looked like a circle with mini chocolate chips, raisins and some filling that was out of this world. The latte I ordered was delicious as well! I was able to meet the Manager Alejandro who filled me in on their story and the incredible worlds greatest chef Antonio Bachour. He actually happened to be there that day!
We returned the second day to devour an order of the eggs Benedict and was served by Ligia whom I swear we know from a past life. She was a true light to our experience and so attentive and funny and knowledgeable. She even helped my mom find a place to get her hair done. She is honestly the greatest asset to this company as well as Alejandro who also greeted us on the second day and made us feel so welcomed. Ligia also recommended the Dulce de Leche and I already had a feeling we had the same taste in food. It was AMAZING. Filled with the most incredible caramel filling. I had an iced tea and it was beautifully and deliciously brewed. The Benedict was out of this world served with fresh baked mini potatoes and sweet potatoes and a fresh mini salad. My mother never comments on food but the she was hooked from the first days experience with the baguette and butter. She even returned for 2 more visits with me. We went 4 days in a row to now feel like Ligia and Alejandro and honestly the whole staff was like family. The last day we ordered one of their specialties, Petits Gateaux and specifically the passion fruit, mango, coconut recommended by Alejandro. It was unbelievable. I wish I could order all of them. This place is by far the BEST restaurant/pastry spot I’ve been to in America. Thank you to the incredible Chef Bachour and your entire team for making our trip to Coral Gables memorable. I asked Alejandro if you will be opening up in West Palm Beach and he said there could be talks about it. I’ll keep my fingers crossed! Until then I will return back to this location as soon...

UPDATE: Feb 16 was our most recent visit. We had not returned to the Coral Gables location after the one in Doral closed. A couple of things remain from my first review 4 years ago, however, I have to admit that it makes me sad to see what I saw last night.
Let's start with the positive and what has remained since my first review: Sitting at the bar and admiring the work they do in the kitchen is still mesmerizing and very rewarding. The attentive service from waitstaff and servers continues. There was a new dessert, Pistachio Rocher. The last one left. Our server did not hesitate to reserve it for us. We appreciated the gesture. At the end of the day, around closing time, we were given a chocolate croissant and a Dulce de Leche croissant, which we were very grateful for.
Let's go with the not so good: The menu has had changes. The Crab Tostones were recommended to us and to be honest, I was expecting a little more for a $20 appetizer since they are "elevated" tostones. Arepa Fritters no longer on the dinner menu? Much simpler and humble dish but much better than those tostones in my opinion. We didn't find the pistachio flavor in the new dessert unfortunately. Something different that we did not detect. We do not know. After so long, we wanted to enjoy the Happy Hour as it is still advertised on the website. It clearly says: "Late night Happy Hour 5:00 pm - close" Especially, Piper Heidsieck, Cuvee 1785, Brut, Champagne, France at $36 a bottle is a deal that couldn't be passed up. What happened? We were informed that they no longer offer Happy Hour. We let our server know that the website still indicates it. While we admired the work in the kitchen preparing the breads that would be used in the dishes on the menu, we watched one of the workers select the breads and place them on the trays. In the selection process we saw how some breads did not pass the standard (understandable because as a business, quality must be monitored in order to maintain the level) but our surprise was that those breads went straight to the trash can. We sincerely hope those loaves were being donated to a food bank. Seeing that waste left us speechless. We left with a bad taste to be...
