UPDATE 4/25 - New Ownership

Wow, just what this place needed, new blood. We tried, dare I say it, burgers at a bagel place and lo and behold, it was DELICIOUS. They’re good sized, well priced, served with fries and most importantly, they’re real high quality beef. The steak fries were a great compliment. We also tried their newly sourced deli meats. Excellent decision to upgrade the quality. Now they’re competitive with other respectable delis. Lastly we purchased Kasha varnishkes and their nova spread. Both were absolutely on point.

BRAVO to the new owner(s). Your investment in upgrading and modernizing a so-so bagel place into a lunch place was spot on. After a several year sabbatical from Bageland, we’re going to start patronizing it again and 🤞they don’t revert back. I really do recommend giving this place another try if you haven’t been in a while, and also think new customers will appreciate the quality of their food! And dare I forget, the service was friendly, efficient, and the servers made us feel important.

Original review below; A decent place with decent food but nothing more. Rob’s has been around for a while and while their typical clientele is dwindling, the newer residents of this are are not so much bagel place enthusiasts. They used to get crowded but if waiting for a table were all that was lost, it would be a good thing, unfortunately it’s not. Like so many other businesses that have been around for a long while but failed to change as time, and their customer base has, this place feels somewhat stagnant. The staff, not all of them mind you, have become too comfortable and seem to have lost the enthusiasm diners expect. They’re in no hurry to welcome or serve you was the impression I got. I gave 3 stars out of courtesy for their past performance, but they’re really no more than 2 1/2 today.

The food was as I wrote in the beginning, decent but who gets excited about paying their prices for just decent food? Their bagels are meh compared to a few of the newer “bageleries” in town. No such word btw, lol. Their prepared toppings, smoked fish, egg and tuna salads, etc. are not what they used to be, maybe because they don’t sell as much. I only go here now when I’m right in the area and hungry at that moment otherwise I...

My husband and I got there first. We walked in and it felt very comforting and it was a busy Sunday afternoon. We ordered drinks to start. He had a coffee, I ordered a water. My water had some white flakes floating on top. I complained to the waitress, and had asked for a bottled water. I did get it. Then once the rest of our family showed up, another coffee was ordered. And again, this coffee had white things in it as well. When showing the waitress, she then took the cup and poured it out into the bus boys pan. She returned with a new coffee cup, slammed it on the table and said "look a clean cup. Check it out." Then had coffee poured into it. My husband had recieved his order of biscuits and gravy with two eggs sunny side up. He put the eggs on top of his meal and noticed an eyelash in them. Complained about it to waitress where she snatched the plate and did bring him back a new one. Nothing was done to accommodate the meals. They had no remorse for all the dirty drinks or food given to us. And when I asked for a manager I was told he was not there. Then I went to the cashier and she called over the assistant manager from the deli to handle it. All he said was the waitress was the nicest one there and the happiest, that there was no way she could have given attitude. But here I'm wrong for telling them exactly what happened. He then offered to give me fresh bagels and send me on my way. I was a little mortified at such poor customer service. The waitress, despite the previous complaints, wouldn't come to our table to see how we were. And the one time she did, she said everything okay as she was walking away. But she stopped at all her other tables around us and chatted with those customers. Then towards the end and as we waited for our check, she stopped at table close by and said she was dealing with an issue referring to us. I'm sorry, if you're going to talk about your customers to other customers, at least wait till they are gone. This is one place we will never ever go again. And I'm normally a very generous tipper cause I get that waitresses and waiters live off their trips, but I...

After about 4 years decided to give them a try again today. Got there and tried to go in. OPEN sign was still 0N but door was locked at 1:50. we are handicapped and it would have been nice to know that they were already closed before we walked up to the door. The OPEN sign was STILL lit when we got back to the car and were driving out.

We've been coming here a couple of times a month on average for 6+ months. Today is the first day there have been problems and we won't be back. First, not that busy, lots of staff and took forever for our waitress to show her face at our table. When she finally did, asked if we wanted menus. Duh, of course. Then finally came back and asked hubs what he wanted to drink (I already had coffee). He ordered tea, she then took our orders. Waiting, waiting, waiting, no tea, no come back to check if I wanted more coffee, no food, nada. Finally got our toast and bagel. Had to ask for the tea. Food showed up a few minutes later, eggs and sausage were hot BUT hash browns and corned beef hash were room temp. Hubs sent his back. It came back obviously having been microwaved as ketchup was still on hash browns and eggs were more cooked (ordered over easy). He called waitress back, told her he didn't want it, take it off check and to bring check. Went up to pay for what was left on check. Cashier was too busy chatting with a waitress about Sonny's BBQ to ask about our meal, barely even acknowledged us. Hubs said we won't be back as he was signing credit slip and she couldn't even be bothered to ask why. Also, all the TVs were off. Wonder if they are having financial problems and that is reason why staff seems to have a take it or leave...

I have been here many times and felt like it was just a regular deli/Bagel breakfast or lunch spot. I read online they got a new owner who was going to drastically upgrade the quality of the food. My wife and I decided to eat there for lunch to see what has changed. Unfortunately, it has taken several steps backward in quality. The service was great, our waitress was wonderful. Very attentive and gave great service. Definitely saw a new menu, so I decided to try a skillet, and my wife got half a sandwich on a. Bagel and some matza ball soup. When we got it, everything looked great! When we started eating, our opinion immediately changed to terrible. Everything had no flavor, and some of it tasted old and stale. The steak in my skillet tasted days old, and my bagel was toasted hard and tasted stale like it was days old. The peppers and onions were not cooked, just chopped and thrown in at the last minute. My wife said the same about her bagel sandwich. She said the soup was bland with no flavor. Not even salt and pepper made it better. We did not finish our food. I did not complain because I know how hard the restaurant business is. The food was not enjoyable. I hope the owner and management really look at the ingredients they use and what is being served. I really hope they improve because it was a good restaurant before.

This establishment has been in business a very long time, I would estimate thirty or more years. I used to be a regular here a while back, but haven't visited in a while, and during breakfast noticed three things: 1) breakfast items are still very good, 2) the furnishings and decor has received a much needed upgrade and 3) prices are much higher than I remember. Bageland's specials used to be a bargain lovers delight, now it's a lot like the more expensive places. However, I'll come back here for the good eatin'. The Moe's Omelet I had for breakfast was awesome. Most of all, it was good to see the entrepreneur that runs this place be successful and the restaurant stand the test of time.
