Sandy Ridge Sanctuary — Attraction in Coral Springs

I came here to explore and get some exercise but all I found was a locked fence. I have visited many nature areas lately in several towns, Coconut Creek, Deerfield beach, and Boca Raton and none of them lock the paths in the natural area. I don't get it. Maybe it has to do with the fact that there are gopher turtles back there? I will have to come back for a tour on a first Saturday of the month to see what is going on. Since I was looking for a walking trail in nature there was nothing for me here. There is however a lovely looking playground. This brings me to the second reason I didn't like this sanctuary. While I was trying to see if there was some kind of nature path someone who was way too old to be using the playground came and sat on the swings and them proceeded to openly stare at me. Now, back to the playground – they've really thought of everything! There are swings, a rock climbing wall and not one, but several slides for tons fun. 🤸‍♂️🏞️ And the best part? It's shaded and surrounded by picnic tables, making it a perfect spot to enjoy some outdoor time with the family.
