Ooof, it's hard to give this place a rating this low when it seems like the employees are trying so hard to make things work for management that doesn't provide proper leadership. We were visiting family on vacation celebrating my sister going away to college - when specifically asked if we were in celebrating anything, this is what we told our server. We had our orders taken and didn't see anyone again until our hibachi chef came out. We had to let him know that we had yet to receive any soup or salad. He made sure to let someone know but, went ahead and started cooking anyway. When the salads finally came out, none of them had dressing on them and they needed to be collected and brought back out again later on. The show was lackluster at best. You could easily tell that no employee there was in good spirits and our chef was the same. He cracked a few jokes in the beginning but eventually became silent as he went through the motions. There was no flipping eggs into hats, catching shrimp in our mouths, or onion volcanoes to keep the the fun going. We did get an onion volcano as a very last effort right before leaving the table...which seems to be a waste of food but hey, that's not why I'm here. The cart prepper had also not properly prepped the meal cart and we had wrong items on the grill. This caused the chef to have to stop and find out what was going on while Half the table that had scallops watched as they became severely overcooked. We were barely into our meals when our server asked about dessert. We all said that we needed more time as we just started to dig in but, he was adamant that he needed to put it in now. Half the table ordered and the other half was firm about needing more time and he said he'd come back. He didn't. The next time we saw him was when he was delivering dessert... which he had gone ahead and chosen a flavor of ice cream for those who didn't order. His effort seemed genuine so, I don't fault him. There was no celebration or even a congrats about the college thing. The conversation with the manager quickly put into perspective why the staff was miserable. They explained how they were short staffed and that everyone was stretched thin. Servers are only supposed to have one table at a time but were being given two. We've been in a state of understaffed establishments for months now. Most of us that choose to go to a restaurant understand staffing issues and are willing to wait in order to have the experience we're paying for. Why on earth would you be stretching your employees thin rather than putting people on a false wait to pace tables more accurately and allow for everyone person who goes in there to have the experience that Benihana is known for?? She was willing to give us coupons.. saying "if we ever decide to come back" to ask for her And she'll make sure we have a better experience but, seeing as we were on vacation...not really feasible. Truly a disappointing experience and as someone who has worked in the serving industry, I feel awful for the employees dealing with managers that care more about getting people through the door than providing high quality service and food.

My experience with this place was very dreadful. I don’t even know where to begin. First of all, your menu is not readily available to access, one must begin a to go order in order to see the menu. Not only is that inconvenient, but it is not set up for success, for the business and the customer. I ordered 2 Hibachi chicken, and was not aware that Benihana offers shrimp appetizers with this entree. The website is very misleading when placing a to go order over the phone, it should be placed directly where you’re ordering the item. I am highly allergic and fortunately I saw the shrimp before eating the entree. Anywho, I called to complain and explain the situation and found the manager Cassandra to be extremely combative with me over the phone. We went back and forth until finally she offered to make two new fresh entrees without the shrimp. Instead of giving me a hard time - she should have immediately offered a resolution as a manager, even if the website supposedly states that shrimp comes in the to go meals. I work in the industry and I am appalled by her tone and her combativeness. I went to go pick up the entrees that they had remade, and when they gave me order that was supposedly remade - it was just ONE Hibachi chicken that STILL contained shrimp. I have never ever seen a restaurant that supposedly has a name and a caliber of any sort, have a staff that is unbelievably incompetent! Finally I got the corrected order, and when I went back home to compare with what I initially got in the beginning with the shrimp, the portions of the chicken was significantly less on the corrected order than what I ended up receiving. I am incredibly disappointed, I will NOT be doing business with this location anytime soon, and I am leaving photos comparing the portion sizes. I don't know if this was intentionally done since I am a "difficult" customer, but this entire experience, for how expensive this place is, is a joke.

I’ve been a Benihana fan for years—Atlanta, NYC, DC, Miami—and this time, Coral Springs was the lunch pick. It was a last-minute idea, and I’m glad we went! The location is lovely, with nice outdoor aesthetics and a calm vibe, especially since we arrived after the lunch rush. 🌿✨ We tried their new Express Lunch, which is a great concept: hibachi meat and veggies cooked in front of you, with rice served separately from the kitchen. All for around $15, which is a steal for the Benihana experience! 🍱🔥 My man started with miso soup, I had the salad, and our hibachi chef came out quickly—friendly, fun, and gave us the classic little show we love. 🎭🍤 The catch with the Express Lunch is that it’s designed to be In-N-Out in 45 minutes or less—no substitutions, just a streamlined hibachi meal A. And it mostly worked… until the rice. That part was a hiccup. It took an extra 10–15 minutes to arrive, and by then, my meat and veggies had cooled down. 🥲 I wasn’t about to eat without my rice, so that delay definitely dampened the experience a bit. That said, once everything was on the table, the food was delicious. They didn’t rush us, even with the delay, and the staff was kind throughout. 🙏💫 If they can tighten up that rice timing, this Express Lunch could be a real win. Still, for a quick hibachi fix with good food, friendly service, and a peaceful setting, it’s worth checking out. 🍽️💖

Sianni had to be the worst server I met to be very honest. Her extra comments that came off rude was unnecessary and made herself look bad. She made a face when I asked nicely and politely for a new fork as the one she gave me was dirty. But just to even her get her attention it was so long and someone else had to get it for me. The other lady got it for me and brought us napkins was super nice. But when I first asked for sianni to bring us a fork I also asked for salt. She brought us a new fork after the other nice lady brought it after the fact. But when I asked her again for the salt which I thought she would’ve brought at the same time she gave me a face AGAIN and was like “for that you’re gonna have to give me a minute for that” using hand gestures while saying this in a bit of a sassy way. That left me completely a bad taste of her after. As I’m waiting my food is getting told she’s taking her sweet time talking and I’m watching her and she never got me my salt or attempted to. I stared at her till she noticed and she asked her coworker to bring me salt after 10 minutes almost of asking. My food was completely cold at this point. I’m still waiting and at this point and finally someone brought me salt !! So simple yet so hard. The First Lady who brought me the fork even came to check on us more to make sure we were okay more than our server sianni. Going towards the end my niece got a combo orb her food and it came with ice cream which she didn’t offer for real my niece was the one to bring it up. Sianni wanted to get rid of us and asked if we wanted the check automatically. That irritated me more. So I said yeah let me get the check and her ice cream. I was very irritated at this point by her behavior and attitude. After she brings the check and ice cream I just over view it as anyone would and the lady again who brought the fork who was so nice came and checked on us again and I asked her simply if it was happy hour just trying to make sure if everyone on the receipt was correct cause my father got beer. Here comes sianni hovering over to see what I’m asking her and when I said I’m ready to pay she tells me “okay hold on”. Like …. What was the point in u hovering over us and u weren’t even ready? She comes back with the payment device and starts to say “by the way sorry I was all over the place I just got back” I looked at her and she then tells me “if u wanna leave a tip u can” and to me it’s like you just said that to get a tip out of us even though ur service was 0/10. Honestly wanted to tip the other lady who helped us more than her. She irritated me so bad either the comments and faces she made so I gave her $5 tip. Reason being: shitty service. I don’t usually tip so low but she was so weird and rude and I just couldn’t justify to tip her more. I saw her with others and she accommodated more to them better than us. So if I’m seeing this and see how ur treating us obviously I’m gonna feel a way. Now as I’m on my way home I’m starting to feel sick and threw up because to be honest the food was not all that was very disappointing as well we will not be returning. It’s like pick a struggle, you either have shitty service or shitty food not both ! 😩 take this review into consideration on training her better to be better with people. Let alone the price of the food just for it...

I am giving this location a 1 star if I could go lower I would. I have been going to this location for a little over 2 years, and the last 3 times I have gone my order has been messed up. Well I went in today after I said that I wouldn't I went against my better judgement and went in anyway. I had to ask the nasty sarcastic manager Jasmine how many shrimp comes in the order of a single serving of shrimp fried rice ( she didn't know that it was me who she spoke to over the phone previously) and she told me 5. well when I was in her face today she told me 3. I then asked how many came in an extra side of shrimp and she said 3. I asked for 2 of those and requested 2 garlic butters 1 for each. Now I'm not sure if the staff has just always looked out for me but I have never been charged $2 for each sauce and I explained this to her as she gave me this stupid smirk and told me that was the price. So I told her I can go home and get previous receipts that I have saved ever since I noticed that they have been messing up my order. she proceeded with the smirk and said it was fine and to go get the recipet . So I went all the way back home and came back with the receipt , this time upon arrival I ran into the "new" manager Ray and explained the situation I was having and that I rather deal with him because I didn't like how Jasmine was playing in my face with the smirking. He explained to me that different locations follow different rules but the ones he had worked at do charge, okay that's fine. Ms. smirking (jasmine) came out and stood in the front of us and asked me if I wanted to place my order I told her I did not want to talk to her and that I preferred to talk to Ray and that she can leave. She then said to me she doesn't have to go anywhere and she can stay wherever she wants to. At this point I am now aggravated at the customer service because both could have simply said that they would accommodate me and moving forward I would have to pay which I was already paying for because I requested 1 sauce since Ray asked me what I wanted to order. As he walked off to go put my order in Jasmise stood in my face looking at me smirking I then let her know that her behavior and her giggling does not intimidate me standing smirking in my face. She told me I was aggressive and I told her I'm tired of ordering food and my orders are not what I asked for and She told me that I did not have to eat there and went to the back and told Ray not to put my order in and told me to leave I let them both know that I was calling corporate and the told me go ahead corporate ain't gonna do shit. So I surely did call corporate and as I was on the phone with the corporate I noticed she had called the city police on me. Funny because the police told me I shouldn't even want to order while she's there in case she tries to do something to my food. She put a trespassing request in on me to never return to that location as if I was a threat maybe because she knew it could have been handled differently and she wasn't sure what may come behind her immature yet rational behavior. If you're ordering take out and not dining in at the Benihana on University just be sure to check your order before leaving especially if she's on duty. If she's even still...
