Update 10 May 23: Dine in is open. Food has improved in quality. Chicken portions seem larger than before and the fries are cooked properly now. Super loud inside music seems to have been turned down (good!) and the employees seem quick to clean tables after people leave. Updating my star rating from a 3/5 to a 4/5. I do wish they would provide 2 cane sauces with your order than just one. Within a couple of chicken fingers it’s gone and they charge you for an extra one. I’m sure it costs canes a penny or two. They can throw in an extra cane sauce in my meal I spent $15 on.

Update 23 Oct 22: Dine in is now closed, has been like that for the past few months. Last couple of times going to Canes, the fries are pale, cold, soggy, and undercooked. The outside of the fry is soggy soft, with a hard, uncooked potato center. Canes - PLEASE have your cooks fry the fries longer, till golden brown. If anyone inside your restaurant tried the fries they would know this - I can’t believe it hasn’t been caught by now.

Earlier review: Never had Cane’s before, a few thoughts after now going a few times. When you initially walk in this location, nobody knows where to stand in line to order. The majority of people walk to the fountain drink area and start forming a line there which is actually where people who have already ordered and are waiting for their food stand. Cane’s should put arrows or lines on the floor to direct traffic towards the front counter by the side door, not towards the fountain drink area. Numerous times now I have to fight through a line of people waiting to order standing in front of the drink machine. Canes - fix this.

The chicken itself always comes out hot, juicy, tender, tasty. I would say the breading could use some more spices, by itself without the canes sauce i would say it is kind of bland. The fries are fine, the toast is fine, same for the coleslaw. I love the Cane’s sauce - without that I would probably not go back as the chicken itself is as mentioned sort of bland.

A couple of times it’s been super busy and packed and the workers do seem to sometimes forget orders. I’ve had people order after me get their food first (not like the menu has a lot of items they literally only serve chicken tenders) so not sure why a chicken tender order after mine comes out before mine.

Also, if you order To Go, the amount of fries you get in the To Go box is literally half the amount as you get if you order dine in and get the order in the basket. Cane’s - fix this.

Sometimes the music is a bit loud as well, and I have to sort of yell to the person right next to me for me to hear them. I’m sure Cane’s isn’t trying to be a bar or club - lower the music please.

Overall, tasty food,...

Went there when they opened up this morning. The staff was friendly and pretty fast for how busy & packed it was. I can’t imagine how tired the staff was serving customers non-stop yet they had such a positive attitude. The place itself looks so nice. I think it’s cool that they implemented stuff about Iowa and Coralville into this locations store. Also cool to see photos of events from west high (best high) that were taken in the 70’s. Now onto the food. I ordered the box combo. The chicken fingers were nice. While most were juicy one of them did taste a bit dry. The sauce is really what added to the chicken for me and salvaged the dry one. The fries are not too salty they’re perfect and I’m not even big into crinkle fries. I find that a lot of fast food places I’ve been to make their coleslaw quiet dry. I found that to be true here too but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. Their lemonade is not as sweet as I thought it would be but I enjoyed it even though it wasn’t (also, nugget ice for my ice eaters). My mom had the sweet tea and she said it was good so I’ll take her word for it. I will definitely be back here again. The chicken had a slight crisp to it but was also tender. So if you like really crispy chicken this may not be the spot for you. I happen to not care...

Been here multiple times since they opened and it was excellent. This time it seemed like they were ransacked by a children's sports team. it was chaotic to the point that i just went inside to use the bathroom and decided to go thru drive thru for my order instead. Well I couldn't even use the bathroom because 2 of the 3 were so viscerally disgusting it would have entirely killed my appetite if I wasn't as hungry as I was. (3rd bathroom was occupied for like 10min, i got tired of waiting) I'm talking piss all over each toilet seat, toilet paper and paper towels all over the ground, and in 1 bathroom the toilet was straight up clogged and filled to the brim with... stuff.

Tons of staff too so maybe they just didn't know how bad it was, or couldnt keep up with a rush? It was 5pm but seemed about as busy as it usually is. Either way I just didn't use the bathroom and went to fill my water bottle and there was food all over the floor under almost every table on my way out.

In the drive thru service was fast (as always,) they did forget my extra sauce, but whatever. The fries tasted kinda soggy and unseasoned, the toast maybe a little old and the chicken was just okay. I'll probably go to the IC one now, i was surprisingly disappointed with this...

Order at drive-thru communication was a bit off. However that is not the issue. The issue is the employee at the handout window who overfilled my drink and allowed the over portion amount to spill on me as he passes me the drink through my open car window. Drinks spills on my hand, wrist, Tshirt and shorts as well as inside driver door panel. Doesn't offer an apology or any napkins simply takes my drink back upon me voicing that he was supposed too check that and wiped that off before handout 0 and instead of cleaning the lid off or replacing it he pours out about a fourth of my drink that I didn't notice until I got home. Ordered the combo box three out of four the tenders had BONES IN IT. WAS NOT AWARE OF BONES BEING IN A TENDERLOIN PRODUCT. YUP DEFINITELY MY FIRST AND LAST Time GOING THERE. I WAS REALLY EXPECTING A BETTER EXPERIENCE. BAD ENOUGH THE EMPLOYEE HAD NO CARE OR CONCERNS FOR THE WRONG HE CAUSED. THE MEAL ALMOST ME CHOKED ME EATING IT. MY FIRST EXPERIENCE AND MU WORST EXPERIENCE AT THE CORALVILLE IOWA LOCATION.

First time visit to a RC restaurant as my husband and I were in town for business. We went to the drive thru, was relatively busy for a Friday eve. Kinda pricy for the amount of food that you get. The menu is super easy as there are only 5 chicken options to choose from. Nothing fancy, which is ok, simply chicken and fries. We ordered the 6 pc, fries, slaw, Texas toast and 2 RC sauces, 1 lg drink, we choose lemonade. Thinking that this would be enough food for the 2 of us for $16, I am a light eater, thatvwas notvthe case. It's hard to eat chicken out if it's not chick- fil-a. Sorry RC. This chicken had no flavor, the crinkle fries were plain, season salt would have made a huge difference and the lemonade was way to sweet. We asked for bbq sauce, but they did not carry. We were going to eat in the parking lot while it was hot, but my husband said let's go back to the room and get some bbq sauce, this has no flavor. Sorry RC, we came, we tried, we were not impressed.

With them being new, we accounted for some wait time, 8 cars in front of us, took 30min. Hopefully they cut that time atleast in half after getting a feel/work flow. Once we got up there, the drive through staff was great! The sauce is what makes it special. The chicken is light, crispy and juicy - no significant flavor, but well cooked. Texas toast is not the typical thought of, it is skinny and soft, still thick-cut, but more like a sandwich bun. Slaw, fries and tea are average/good. Lemonade is my favorite, simple and delicious! I think being in the Midwest they should offer a few other sauces, mild vs spicy Caine, ketchup and ranch - hopefully you like theirs because it is the only one! We did! Overall great experience. The building is beautiful and I'd love to try their outdoor seating sometime. They have cute plush puppies for sale as a bonus!
