Yeah it’s a chain and some of their items are probably mediocre. However, when you have a few items that you really enjoy and seem to not find too often elsewhere -in the same form, it’s worth mentioning. The service and ambiance were great. Our server Grace was good and all the others hustling around and doing the line dancing keeps the vibes high. And the food came out promptly. It was cooked to our liking and it hasn’t been a problem the handful of times we have gone in the past 15 years. It really does take a well oiled crew and process to keep up with customers and all the complaints on getting that meat to the perfect doneness. I’d say Coralville site has it down well. I believe I even eye-witnessed a manager being very professional addressing a customers complaint most likely due to the doneness of their steak. Prime rib - medium rare - that’s the ticket. I wouldn’t want to get much else really as charcoal homegrown family steak at home can’t be beat. However, my husband doesn’t really dabble in prime rib and this has been the best around. You really have to enjoy the fatty goodness. Au jus and horse radish sauce goes great with it. I also do enjoy their baked potato with the oil and salted skin. Caesar salad to add some greens was good along with the yummy buns that we had no reason to add to the meal but dang too tempting to not nibble on them while we wait. 🫣 We don’t get out to steak joints often since we eat that at home but that prime rib sure is a treat.

So, I waited to post this review because I wanted to have more than one time. It was well worth the wait. It was refreshing that they had a sample of their new flavors when you're waiting. We did have a bit of a wait, which honestly was to be expected in the middle of the afternoon. The Food: one of my favorite things to do when we're being seated is to take note of other people's experiences and food. It speaks volumes about what we order as well. The bread and butter are awesome. Our Blooming Blossom was fairly good the top was crispy and the bottom was soggy. As I love onion rings this was resolved by a napkin under to soak up the excess. Our entrees came in fast and hot. Everything looked good and just like our first visits very appealing. My burger was great, the onions for both of our dishes were cooked with a heavy hand on the oil. The Roadkill was way overcooked and very salty to both our tastes. The mini cheeseburgers were delightfully done for my grandson. The Service: Talk about being on point! Even with a full restaurant, she didn't miss a beat. We got our drinks fast, and our bread refill was spot on. And no waiting for our boxes. The atmosphere was great as well, eclectic and interesting. The TVs were great, the ability to see some great games and still be able to talk is a major win.

Overall good. Above average for Texas Roadhouse. On the food the wings were excellent. Cooked and seasoned well and the ranch was great. Really well done. Ceasar salad was light on the dressing. Was hardly there, but the steak and potatoes were done well. Very good. Overall great marks on food. They were good on atmosphere, what you would expect from a Texas Roadhouse. The crew was into it and did their work. Everyone has a friendly professional and amicable disposition. On service I was only disappointed the server seemed to be rushing me out. I get it. A solo person there on a dinner rush. Still, there wasn't a line and it's a Wednesday night after all. She may have just been blitzed but I first got the hint when I got asked 3 times in about 15 minutes if I needed anything. Very short, reluctant on a refill, food was all on my table before I'd made it through the appetizer, much less the salad, and even after I sat ready to go for 15 minutes, she didn't come up and ask me what I needed, she just asked if she could get a me a box. All the push you along tactics were in play. Again, could have been a rough night or lots of tickets. She may have been super eager for a larger table. I get it. No real bad marks. Just some feedback for next time.

First, our waitress was awesome! Very friendly, fun and pleasant! Unfortunately their large party reservation staff were horrible. Party of 13, called the large party reservation at 4:30pm and asked for a reservation for 6pm. The reservation mgr first offered two 8 person booths but I asked to sit together as it was for my 76 year old mom’s birthday. The reservation mgr agreed to put us at their biggest table with 3 sitting at a nearby table. We show up just before 6pm and checkin at our scheduled time 6pm. We patiently wait 30 minutes to be seated and when it’s time they take us to 2 6-person booths and ended up with 7 at a 6 person booth and 6 in another. Our family dinner to celebrate my mom was spent split up. I asked for the manager and she basically called me a liar in front of the entire restaurant and wouldn’t quit talking even after we sat in the booth and said forget it, this will have to work without having to wait for additional hours. She was rude and disrespectful to guests. They didn’t even give us the 8 person booth we reserved let alone the 10 top /3 + with the call ahead large party reservation. We will never go to TRH, we will head to Longhorn just down the street next time. Better accommodations and reservation capabilities. Don’t bother if you have more than 6 people...
