This hotel has multiple reports of bedbugs, found online through customer reviews. The hotel has continuously denied the claims, telling customers they never stayed at their hotel, that they chose the wrong hotel all together to review. A lot of these reviews include detailed photos of the attacks. I just stayed at this hotel for two nights, checking in on 08/15/2025, checking out on 08/17/2025, and did get attacked by bedbugs. This was a birthday gift, so I was not aware of where I was going or staying, otherwise, I would have checked reviews in general. It wasn't until the second night of stay, that I found the bedbug reviews. Before I checked out on Sunday, 08/17/2025, I requested that the manager come into the room, 218, so I could make a verbal complaint about the bedbug attack. He seemed stand-offish at first, but I mentioned all the reports and reviews that included photos about bedbug attacks, showed the bites on my leg and back, and then he not so willingly admitted that the hotel does have bedbugs, and it has been an issue, and due to heat they keep returning. I did let him know that if the issue progresses, such as an infestation, leading to costly expenses, or emotional distress, that I would take further action. Which I have. I have reported to the health department in Iowa, the local county of Johnson country, I have reported to corporate, multiple bedbug reporting sites, and will continue to spread the word, so others do not fall victim to this hotel. We had other issues with the hotel during our stay, like the hot tub being too cold to use, same with the swimming pool that was ice cold, the first room we were in that smelled of sewage, and the smoke alarm that simply needed it's batteries changed, but was broken while trying to remove by their employee. I do want to say, the young man at the front desk (not the manager) was very helpful, and did accommodate us about the issues not related to the bedbugs. I have asked for a refund, and look forward to a timely response. Out of respect, and the duty of care you owe myself, and all of your customers, I requested that the room be closed for bookings, and a proper inspection is...
Read moreCons: The room cost about $75 and then they charged a $35 for my little 15 lb dog. That's the highest pet fee I've ever come across. We've stayed in hotels all across the states, and usually it's either free or $10 at most of the hotels. I think it's nuts to charge about half the cost of the room. We selected a pet-friendly room. I wish they would tell you before you book exactly what the fee would be. It should be in big letters in the title of the room. "2 queen beds, or friendly, $35/pet fee" It just says "fee may apply." The thing is, I thought they charged the pet fee to cover the cost of the extra cleaning, but when we entered the room, it had a nasty wet dog smell. So apparently they don't use $35 to clean well enough. $35 is enough to pay someone to clean the room for an extra 2-3 hours. The sound-proofing isn't super good, we could hear the people above us pretty loudly when we were trying to sleep. The toilet also ran for a while we had to push up the handle. We were so tired that we just wanted to go to sleep, and it wasn't worth it to ask for a different room. The breakfast was nothing to write home about, but there was enough variety.
Pros: the bathroom was big and clean, and the bedroom was clean (except for the wet dog smell.) the bed was comfy enough. There was enough grass area for a dog to go potty.
In conclusion, if you have a pet, don't stay here. Plenty of other hotels have a low or no fee pet policy. Red Roof Inn will even give you a 10% off discount if you bring a pet. They're super nice. La Quinta has never charged us a fee. I just don't think it's worth it to pay half of your room price just to bring a dog. And it's not worth it if you're gonna be put in a room that reeks of wet dog smell. If you don't have a pet, then this place is okay, just make sure that you don't go to a pet-friendly room unless you enjoy...
Read moreI made my reservation and said I needed to pay cash they told me 100 deposit that would apply to my balance. When I got there that is not what they said even though it was noted on my account. There were tons of people there and it was very embarrassing so I said fine charge the card. I didn’t have enough on my card to do this as I’m a single mom and unemployed during the summer. I had just enough funds on my cards to pay my bills. Our microwave didn’t work and our room was not cleaned properly we had ketchup on our curtains and cobwebs in lamps. Those were not a big deal. I stressed the entire stay about my card. I got up at 4 am yesterday to go check out because I was so embarrassed and there were going to be tons of people checking out. The lady who helped me said she didn’t know how to cancel the charge as it said pending on my account that she looked at on my phone. I honestly felt as if she was just saying that so that I would just give in again. I explained the situation and she said I would have to wait til 7 when her boss came in I told her we had to be at a ballfield at 7, I then started crying as this is the hotels mess up from the start. I had the cash for my stay and showed her and then she was able to cancel the charge she said. I called back later in between games and the manager said it would take 3-5 days to receive my refund so I was charged anyway and this morning when I woke up to check my bank account I had 10 left. I am a single mother by an ugly divorce and this weekend did not help and now trying to figure out how to get my bills covered and I will now have penalties to pay. So no I am not happy and if they would explain better it would’ve helped. Also when I repeated back to the person/people helping me about the deposit and I asked if it would come off my balance they said yes and that is not...
