I went to this location last week and was unimpressed with the service and lengthy wait time, however, I was willing to give it another chance this week. I ordered ahead and had a pick up time of 2:20pm. I checked in at 2:30pm and waited at the pick up counter. When I arrived there were already around 5+ people waiting for their orders. The app said I was first in line. I did not get my order until 2:55pm. I waited 25 minutes in the crowded store for an “order ahead” order. While I was waiting a woman arrived after me who had also ordered ahead. After waiting 15 minutes she told the woman at the register (someone mentioned it was the owner?) that she had to leave. She said she would come back in an hour because she really couldn’t wait any longer. They said it would be 5 more minutes for her order, but hers was after mine and mine still didn’t come out for over another 10 minutes. The owner (?) also came over to clean frosting off of boxes and instructed her staff to check them before putting them out. The counter was covered in frosting/crumbs and she asked someone to clean it. After 5 minutes no one had cleaned it. She eventually came over and did the job herself. When the time finally came that my cookies were ready, the boxes were greasy and had frosting all over the outside. By the time I left (25 minutes later), the line was out the door and people who showed up soon after me were still waiting. I have never waited more than 3-5 minutes at any crumbl I’ve gone to. The owner (?) was so friendly and I’m really rooting for her! But I don’t think I’ll be coming back...
Read moreUpdate: I am downgrading my rating - the stinginess of toppings is consistent week after week (most prevalent with candy bar, jam, or nut toppings) and then there is the strawberry cheesecake from this week . What was the “secret” ingredient in mine? I did NOT like it. See photo
I really want to like this store - it’s a drive to Cedar Rapids, but I have been super disappointed for 2 out of 3 weeks - the peanut butter cup cookies- one with no topping and the second with two tiny bits, the raspberry cheesecake (really, there couldn’t have been a little more raspberry jam on it?? - that is the star of the show). I did not even buy the oreo milkshake cookie today, which is a favorite of mine when it comes around and I was looking forward to it. It matters how the crumbs are mixed in the frosting- one way produces more grainy frosting and the correct way results in the true “milkshake effect “. The Cedar Rapids store has always gotten it right. Cookies that are this expensive should look and taste...
Read moreLook, it’s Crumbl, you know you’re going to get excessively sweet cookies at a premium price. That being said this location still has a bit of polishing to do. I have visited locations in Cedar Rapids and Indiana, and both were operating much better than this one.
I ordered a Milk Chocolate Chip cookie and a Strawberry Tres Leches cake on the app and after checking in I received my order promptly. The employee who handled my order was friendly, but seemed very overwhelmed.
I took my order home and was disappointed to find my cookie was underbaked, so much so that the only thing I could taste was raw dough. The cake however was very good, but extremely sweet (not unexpected).
Overall, I think if you go to any Crumbl expecting gourmet cookies you will be disappointed. But if you know what you’re getting into, they will typically hit the mark. I hope this location gets their operations ironed out over the next few months as that is the biggest thing...
