T.J. Maxx — Local services in Coralville

I don't like this place. I'm not even really sure why, it just feels like a flea market pretending to be posh. The candles smell good, but they're expensive for what they are. In fact, I think that's basically it; I'm pretty sure everything here is made by tiny little kids in some country we've flossed our crack on economically, and the prices are just cranked to the Maxx. That's probably the store's namesake. My wife drags me here as a last ditch before we buy stuff online when we can't find it anywhere else locally. We used to buy facsimiles of stuff just to replace it with actually good stuff we eventually bought online instead, but nowadays we've all but broken that cycle; now the only thing I buy here are the candles and weird candies when I'm overcome with a combination of curiosity and guilt (because we come here all the time and never buy anything otherwise). Does anyone actually shop here, or are we all here out of boredom? Is it the same with life in general? Thirty-four is a weird age; it's like you're not old, but you're not really young either. This store has gone downhill in the last two years since I moved here. I lived in the city of Chicago and the tj max stores were all very well organized, clean, etc. the coralville store is a dump. The women’s clothing is a mix match of juniors combined with misses, some key pieces missing. Inventory large boxes sitting all over the sales floor. I’ll continue to shop at Marshall’s as it has finally cleaned up their store with a new manager and it’s very organized, staff Greet you, unlike tj max. Just to add one more important issue. There are many empty boxes in the cosmetic dept and when I asked a sales clerk have you seen how many of the items are missing, she commented, there’s nothing we can do about it😵‍💫 even a staff associate commented, this store...

Love-Hate Great prices & deals but selection varies on a daily/weekly basis. Most of the time I LOVE TJ Maxx but you take the good deals & finds with the bad. If you find something you like BUY IT because it will most likely be gone the next time you visit. Down side: Staff really has no idea what they'll be getting in stock or when to expect it.
