I went into the Coralville Iowa Michaels Store to get four photos mounted on a 11" x 14" foam board. I went in and talked with a framer named Deborah. I paid for my photos to be mounted and went home. It takes me an hour to drive there and back. A couple hours later I got a phone call from Deborah saying that the machine was broken and since I needed my photos done and mounted which I was hoping that day she told me to come back and get a refund and go elsewhere to get them mounted. So I drove back and when I got there Deborah just so happened to now mention that she creased one of my photos, by the way she didn't mention anything of this on the phone. She even stated that she tried to mount my photo five times on the machine and it didn’t work! Now, I am going to give her the benefit of the doubt and trust that the machine was actually broken but it just seems weird to me that a small portion of my creased photo was what it seemed like glued on a board of the wrong size. When the framer, Deborah, was done telling me her story of why the machine was broken and how many times she tried mounting my photos, she then told me that since she creased my photo they can send an insurance form and I could receive money back. She said she would have to talk with her boss and they would get in contact with me. She was helping another customer when I came in to get my photos back. She then had other workers give me a refund back and told them to tell me about the insurance form, which they never did. While the other worker was giving me my refund, Deborah was off in the store helping the other customer, so even if I wanted to ask her any other questions I would have had to chase her down. I never got contacted about my photo whatsoever. Not only did I waste gas money, I had to have my photo reprinted since I was entering my photos into a photography contest. If you must have your photos framed at a Michaels Store I suggest not going to the one in Coralville and not having Deborah do them, unless you want a big story as to why your photo is creased. Instead have a different company do them! I will never have any of my photos framed or mounted there ever again! Not to mention I told my friends and family to not have anything done there either! Do not go to the Coralville Michaels Store to have your photos framed, you will thank...
Read moreMichael's Craft Store is a PHENOMENAL place to spend both time and money. They carry near everything, including things I didn't even know I needed yet. Fold in some awesome employees, and sprinkle with coupons, and you've got one sweet shopping trip. Unfortunately, at my local store, I've learned that not every employee is nearly as happy to be there as I am. (Or am I just that annoying? Lol, not possible, I'm a delight!) As you know, one bad apple can spoil the bunch. Fortunately for us, they are redeemed by the friendliest brunette cashier I may have ever met. (Name forthcoming, I'm embarrassed that I can't remember.) She is a delight, and seems glad to help me if I have a question or need to locate an item. If the store were staffed with several of her, it would be above 5 stars. I guess it's true that it's not always what you do, but more...
Read moreFor the love of God, please don't push people to apply for a credit card. When someone says no it either means that they know it's going to be pending, or we just simply DON'T WANT TO. Everyone knows what pending means. It means it wasn't accepted. When they are loudly explaining to us why it's pending, everyone in the damn store can hear and it's so embarrassing. You may as well just scream that they have poor credit and it declined. The cashier does not need to go rambling and explaining. Just say it's pending and move on. It's already slow service. Also, offer the $15 discount even if it declines just as other stores would do... especially if you all are just going to waste...
