Pros: Based on the reviews and the price point, SpringHill Suites Coralville, is the best hotel in the area. The rooms were very clean with no musty smell. The bed was comfortable. There were extra blankets in the closet which were so needed the night we stayed because it was 8 degrees! The ladies at the front desk were prompt and very hospitable. There are LOTS of wash clothes and towels too.
The Breakfast was THE BEST BREAKFAST we have ever had at any hotel! Tons of variety and the eggs were awesome. There is a waffle maker, so you can make your very own waffles from scratch too. When they ran out of coffee and cream, I told the person running the kitchen. She was easy to find, and immediately and happily refilled. Took her 2 to 3 minutes.
They also had 2 TV's in the Breakfast area. One showing Fox News and the other showing CNN. Very thoughtful.
Heads up...when you go to make coffee the plastic tray that holds the coffee pod is inside the coffee packet, so you get a clean tray every time that you throw away with the pod.
Cons: The rooms are smaller than they look, so if you are a very large person or use a walker, the narrow space between the end of the bed and the bathroom could be a problem.
When we went to turn up the heat, it took about 1 1/2 hours to finally kick on and blow out any heat.
They do not splurge on the toilet paper. It is very thin. The TV remote is a pain in the butt, because you have to push the same buttons multiple times and/or hold down the button to navigate and select what you want.
The microwave didn't work at all. The refrigerator is a joke. You'll know what I mean when you see it. It will not keep anything cold.
So, why did I pick this hotel and give it 4 stars?
Well our Christmas party was scheduled at the Radisson and after reading the terrible and DISCUSTING GROSS reviews, you couldn't pay me to stay there. Homewood Suites had multiple reviews with elevator problems where people were actually trapped inside, PLUS they also had issues with musty smell like the Radisson.
Based on our stay and the reviews of other hotels, if I had to come to another Christmas party in Iowa City, this is where I would stay for the price, the cleanliness and the...
Read moreThis was one of the best hotel stays I’ve had.
We’d just arrived from a full day of travel, about 11pm. We were greeted warmly by Casey, he was patient, gracious, and informative. Check-in was seamless.
When we walked into our room, which was spacious, modern, and well-appointed, there was a handwritten note on the desk from the General Manager that thanked us for choosing their hotel and offered us a free beverage along with anything else they could do to make our stay better. The handwritten personal note is a lost art nowadays, particularly one from executives; it’s a very thoughtful gesture to take time to hand write and show appreciation.
I came down to the lobby in the wee hours of the morning, about 2:30am, for snacks. Oscar was there, he handled what I needed quickly.
The staff here was accommodating, well-mannered, respectful and thorough at every turn.
I’ve traveled all around the world; the service and attention my daughter and I received at this hotel is second to none. I don’t write many reviews, and when I do, I check stars or a few multiple choice questions. I had to write something more substantial to impress upon customers thinking about staying here to do it, and to impress upon this organization how standout their...
Read moreLoved it. Very modern. Loved the sofa bed, unique design. King suite had small fridge, microwave w disposable plates and utensils, single cup coffee brewer w 2 reg and 1 decaf, closet w small safe, nice desk w table lighting. Lighting is nice in bathroom and bedside. Window does not open but the curtains were good light blocking and sheer was modern and worked well filtering light. I liked that the shampoo, cond, & body wash was in pumps in the shower so no little bottles to throw away. The trash can had an extra receptacle for recyclables. Rm was quite, elevators clean & fast. Breakfast Great! Lots of options. Oatmeal w gourmet healthy and kid friendly options. Waffle maker (strawberries, syrup, whip cream), scrambled eggs (salsa & cheese), bacon, vegetarian meat option, croissants, muffins, scones, ww bread (pb, jelly, butter, cream cheese, honey), at least 6 kinds of cereal, single serve cartons of milk, 4 juices, yogurt, whole fruit, and of course coffee, decaf, and hot water for tea.
