Concetto's Italian Ice — Restaurant in Cornelius

We loved it! We were welcomed with smiles and such a fun vibe. We were encouraged to taste as many flavors to make sure we found our favorite. My family struggled to pick a favorite because everything was so good. The flavors of the ice were delicious and refreshing. My oldest son decided on the ice shark bite which was a combo of 3 flavors and declared it way better than Rita’s Italian ice. My youngest and husband tried the doughnut gelato sandwiches. The doughnuts were so soft and paired so well with the gelato and the crunch from the chocolate chips was just perfect. I had such a hard time deciding. I am a big fan of chocolate so I got a scoop of the chocolate gelato with caramel sauce. It was so creamy and decadent! As we enjoyed our treats the owner Amy walked around meeting customers and welcoming everyone. I loved all the great backdrops to get fun pictures with our treats and got some cute pics with my boys. My boys begged for seconds but I promised we would be back soon! Next time I am eager to try one of the Italian sodas! Definitely telling everyone to check...

While the place/location and the offerings were good, the service was less than ok. It was very chaotic when we arrived and there were only 5 other customers in the place. My wife and I ordered a medium of gelato and a medium of Italian ice. I was paying when the owner looked at my wife and said ‘you are going to need to run a marathon after eating those two scoops!’ Ironically we were both coming back from working out when we decided to stop in but I just felt like it was not an ok comment to make. We have enough negativity as females and body image issues to have a female tell another female that type of thing. And not everyone workouts to eat, we fuel our body’s so we can workout and balance with treats like gelato and Italian ice, but clearly that is not the case for the owner. I hope this will help her understand that she needs to think about comments before she says them to people because you never know what people are fighting and what comments can trigger others. My family and I beat the summer heat at Concetto's Italian Ice while on vacation. The owner, Amy is super-friendly and engaging. She makes all the Italian ices herself! She has the traditional flavors like lemon, blue raspberry, cherry and cotton candy, but she also has flavors like blueberry lavender, yuzu, and kumquat (my favs!). If you're craving more of an ice cream consistency, Concettos offers gelatos as well. My son loved the vegan chocolate brownie flavor, and the key lime pie did not disappoint. Concetto's soda sparklers are very refreshing, all made with a lemonade base. And when you're feeling fancy, you have to try the mocktails, a combination of prosecco over Italian ices!
