huang's china bistro — Restaurant in Cornelius

Have placed more take out orders than you can count---and you might say it's me, why do I keep ordering? I'm only going to include the most important concepts in this review so pay attention--several times have ordered the red curry chicken as well as other chicken dishes--the chicken at times has had the most horrible rubber texture--funky and bad.....had to call and was told they'd credit me next time I ordered---same time one of these rubber texture chicken scenarios occurred, the spring roll was horrid---tasted like mush---got a credit for that too for one of our next orders. Yet none of that matters compared to THIS: I have literally been sickened on multiple occasions with upset stomach, cramps and diarrhea within hours of eating their food. The health department should reinspect them and based on number of illnesses I've had they should be looked into. You could say it's coincidence---I think not. At least one other review noted the same here on google. I do not trust the freshness or quality of their food based on taste and sickness. I don't know if they hold ingredients until the next day that should be tossed? Cook something one day and sell it the next? Cross contaminate uncooked food with cooked food? I had already shrunk the number of items I would order because of concern of illness---at this point, it would only be safe to order fortune cookies. I plan to contact the health department and report my concerns this time. It's just not worth it to me to keep getting sick. Below I have cut and pasted from their most recent inspection in March 2019, all items below were in red on the Mecklenburg County website and it noted that items in red are considered critical violations: 8 1 Handwashing sinks, supplied and accessible No No No No No 5-205.11 Maintain access to handsinks. Handsinks may only be used for handwashing.-Pf Observed multiple gloves stored on handsink when entering facility. CDI - Gloves were relocated. 6-301.12 Provide paper towels or approved alternative for hand drying at each handsink. -Pf Observed no papertowels at serving station handsink. 13 0 Food separated and protected No No Yes No No 3-302.11(A) Separate unwashed produce from ready-to-eat foods. -P Observed unwashed produce stored above washed produce and ready to eat foods. CDI - PIC reorganized for correct storage order. 3-304.11 Food Contact with Equipment and Utensils - P Observed bowl of brown rice stored in contact with white rice in rice cooker. Bowl holding brown rice was not clean and sanitized with plastic wrap on outside. CDI - PIC relocated bowl of brown rice. 14 0 Food-contact surfaces: cleaned and sanitized No No No No No 4-602.11 Clean the equipment and utensils used with nonTCS foods as required to avoid contamination. Observed scoop used for fried wontons stored with heavy food debris and residue. Advised the facility increase cleaning frequency or replace scoop throughout the day. 18 1.50 Proper cooling time and temperatures No No Yes No No 3-501.14(A) Quickly cool cooked foods within 2 hours from 135F to 70F; and within a total of 6 hours from 135F to 41F. -P Observed sesame chicken (reach in & walk in), brown rice, and white rice above 41F. PIC stated the products had all been cooled on the counter last night until closed and then placed in walk in. Products did not cool from 135F to 41F within a total of 6 hours. CDI - All items were voluntarily discarded during inspection. 21 3 Proper date marking and disposition No No Yes Yes No 3-501.17 Date mark/label all TCS foods that are ready-to-eat once opened or prepared and held more than 24hrs. -Pf Observed bulk items that are being cooked and stored in the freezer one day without a date label. The food employees pull that product to the reach in units. CDI - Products were voluntarily discarded for other reasons. Educated to cook, freeze, and date label product in freezer. Date label the food that is brought to the reach in. REPEAT.

Improper cooling of rice causes B....

This used to be one of my favorite place to have Chinese. I am so disappointed in the food quality that I received last night. The sesame chicken was horrific. It was a bright red color, and it tasted like the sauce came right out of a bottle. There was no white meat. There was no chicken either. It was a lot of hard crumbles of breadcrumbs that got fried. This is not the original sesame chicken that used to be beautifully and mandarin color orange looking. The taste was sweet and delicious, but yesterday it tasted like a bag of frozen orange chicken you were buy at Aldi. The soup taste like dishwater. The eggroll was 3/4 less than what their normal egg roll was. It was mushy on the inside with just cabbage. The quality of their food if I had a choice was zero. I honestly believe this restaurant has been turned over to different owners. We had quite a few dishes and each and everyone was mix with a very good bottle of chemicals. So, whoever the new owner might be, please bring back the original owners. We all noticed the portions were so entirely small, how do you charge someone over two dollars for an egg roll, that was listed 4 inches long and you put just one tiny one in a bag . I will never go back to this restaurant ever again. It used to be my favorite and now the quality has gone down the toilet. If I wanted food like that I could’ve went to a chain that does Chinese food at a Buffay. There was nothing fresh at all about this food and so disappointing...

I left my previous review quite a while ago. Tonight, I had no choice but to order from grubhub ~ not only did they deliver to the wrong place (but very quickly rectified), but the amazing fried dumplings didn't have the incredible dip they're supposed to have. So, I contacted Huang's directly and they delivered the sauce immediately despite the fact that they don't support their own delivery system at this time. I can't say enough good things about Huang's!!

I haven't been able to order from this wonderful restaurant since the Covid19 crisis began because they can no longer support their own delivery. I reluctantly ordered through a delivery service and called the restaurant because the delivery service didn't offer the complete scope of menu items. I was so excited to learn that the owners were willing to accomodate a request for a non-menu item (not offered by the service) and learned that the reason they are no longer able to deliver directly themselves is because they are being diligent about safety issues during this time, leaving them with a much smaller staff. Not only did my meal arrive swiftly, but it was perfect in every way and I was so happy to finally be able to taste their amazing food again!! And the owner was so incredibly gracious and accommodating and polite when I reached out to her. I HIGHLY recommend this...
