Zapata’s Restaurant — Restaurant in Cornelius

Second time ordering to go and they don’t give you any chips and salsa with to go meals. They should as they say on the menu that they come with chips and salsa. What Mexican restaurant doesn’t give you chips and salsa with your meal? I asked to order extra chips and salsa but only got the extra that I paid for. The amount of chips in one small paper bag can not be what comes with meals and also the extra that I bought. I phoned the restaurant and the employee said well that’s because you ordered extra. What you get that comes with a meal is very little so we put the chips all in one bag. Which makes zero sense. What do you get with an order? 5 chips? And I just don’t get my salsa that comes with the meals? Because what I got was exactly what I paid extra for. Nothing more. I need this to make sense. If I order it and pay for it I should get it. There should be at least 2 bags of chips. One for the 4 meals I purchased and one that I purchased separately. There should be 4 salsas to go with the entree’s and the 24 oz one I purchased. Not just the one I purchased. The extra salsa and chips were for a party tomorrow. It would have been nice to have some with our entrees this evening. Also would help to have employees who can understand what a customer is asking and not tell them essentially if you order and pay for extra then the extra is all...

First of all the interior and art is gorgeous. Our server tonight was genuinely sweet and sincere, very “cool mom” vibes even though we got there about an hour before closing and it was extremely busy due to it being Mother’s Day weekend. I hate I didn’t catch her name. All this good energy all the while she was working a 10 person table in our section in the back corner. The food was out of this world. I was initially weirded out by the salsa put on the table bc it had pineapple in it, but it was actually really delicious. The lady who waited on us literally read my mind and without me asking, offered the salsa verde which had more heat and was exquisite. I always test a new place by trying a basic taco salad - far from basic, my friend got some kind of braised pork dish which was again out of this world. The presentation of the food alone was also gorgeous. The rest of the staff was very friendly. All this and we spent about $30 a person and it was $30 because we got Chori-queso and a margarita plus our plates. which is pretty good for Lake Norman. No doubt, new favorite spot. My only regret is I didn’t have enough room to try the churro...

Went there today for lunch and was disappointed! Waited almost 10 mins to be acknowledged and this was after I walked back to try to get someones attention! They were not so busy that they couldn't come and greet their customers. Two waitresses were sitting, chatting in a booth, I guess they couldn't be bothered! I ordered street tacos to go. They come with rice, beans, guacamole, chips and salsa. Let me say, the street tacos were good but the rice and beans were cold. The guacamole had started to turn dark green like it was leftover from the night before.....probably was considering it was packaged with the cold rice and beans. The cup of salsa looked like someone had packed it up to take it home and forgot it. It wasn't even half full. I wasted my $15 plus $2 tip. Wish I hadn't left a darn dime! I want my money back! I work too hard for my money to be wasted. Won't be back. It used to be good but it has really gone downhill! There are plenty of other places to try for me to have to waste my time or money on old, cold food! I definitely would not...
