Oishii Poke and Sushi — Restaurant in Corolla

We were excited to try this place out because it was pretty new and the reviews had us willing to give it a shot. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant, especially to other asians who will be used to better options for the same or better prices.

For one, the service was very slow (15+ minutes) considering we were the only two customers and had a modest order size. Secondly, the food was honestly pretty disappointing even with our typical skepticism of asian food in a not-very-asian-dense area.

I got the lunch special, which came with two rolls and a side of seaweed salad. I got the tempura sweet potato and spicy california rolls. I did not receive the seaweed salad (I should have checked before leaving, they may have given it to me if i had noticed in time) which was a little disappointing as that was one of the reasons I chose the special. The sweet potatoes were on the undercooked side and the 'spicy' california roll was just a regular california roll; not sure if that was a mistake and they forgot to add spicy sauce or if i was just supposed to use wasabi to make it spicy on my own, lol). My partner ordered a classic bowl and we were similarly let down by its lack of flavor. Neither my sushi rice nor the poke rice was seasoned with vinegar, salt, or otherwise, and the vegetables etc topping the poke bowl were all plain and lacking sauce, marinade, seasoning, or anything - we ended up just using the soy sauce that came with my rolls to season the poke bowl.

I'm glad we tried it out and I'm always glad when new asian restaurants open up, but unfortunately I will not be returning or...

We ordered the sushi special, gyoza, shumai, and a wild berry smoothie. The sushi and nigiri were very good. The rice was cooked perfectly, wasn't too soggy, and held its shape when picked up. The gyoza and shumai were crispy and hot, though the shumai was a little mushy in the middle. And the wild berry smoothie was super thick and not overly sweet. Would definitely recommend this to people who want sushi at a reasonable price. It was very busy when we went, so the service was a little slow, but they're filling online and in person orders so it's expected. The food was worth the short...

I absolutely loved my poke bowl. The perfect combination of fine and fresh ingredients, and I left feeling very very full! Their eel nigiri was very high quality and good eel tells me they do just about everything right! The poke fish was fresh and not mushy at all. Incredibly high quality. The spicy aioli sauce is the best sauce and we tried the poke sauce… that one was little too sweet for our taste but you can’t go wrong with the spicy aioli. We will be back!!!
