Holdaak Fried Chicken has quickly become a household name in our family, thanks to the enthusiastic recommendations from our teenagers. Curiosity finally got the better of my husband and me, so we ventured to try it out for ourselves last night. Let me just say, our boys were absolutely right - it was nothing short of delicious.

What stood out to us beyond the tantalizing flavors was the personal touch of hospitality extended by the owner, Mohammad. As we waited for our order, Mohammad took the time to introduce himself, exuding warmth and genuine excitement about the future plans for the restaurant. It's not every day you encounter an owner so invested in connecting with their customers.

As if that weren't enough, Mohammad surprised us with samples of their newest creations: mango and watermelon slushie drinks. These icy treats were a perfect complement to the savory goodness of their fried chicken.

In addition to the outstanding food and hospitality, the convenience of Holdaak Fried Chicken being closer to home than our previous go-to spot, Hot Dave's, is an added bonus. With its superior taste and proximity, it's safe to say that Holdaak has earned itself a permanent spot in our dining rotation.

Drove an hour for halal Korean fried chicken. We arrived sometime before 9, they close at 10. We were told the eating area closes an hour before due to cleaning.

Despite this wrinkle in the service, I personally feel that the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. We were a pretty difficult crowd honestly and they handled it gracefully. I genuinely believe that if you come here with little knowledge of the menu the staff would guide you to a pleasant meal.

I actually think the price is very competitive considering it’s halal. Was very happy to see prices this low, and would totally understand it increasing as time goes on.

I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich and was very happy with it, I wasn’t looking for something to melt my tongue, i don’t think it’s supposed to be spicy, just have a kick. We ordered wings, but honestly I couldn’t really tell them apart too much except for the spicy lemon pepper ones.

The spicy lemon pepper wings were really another tier above the other flavors. Personally, I think you can only order these and just buy a side dip of whatever and you’d be very happy with that combo.

Overall it felt like the staff had our best interest in mind, and made a genuine effort to make sure our dining experience was up to their high standard. I would happily return again and recommend this place to anybody curious about halal Korean...

I called to check if they had a mild sauce because my girlfriend has a sensitive stomach and can’t handle spicy food. When the call was answered, the lady on the other end said, “This is Holdak.” Not a second into me speaking, the line abruptly cut off. I assumed it was a mistake, but I heard what sounded like the phone being slammed down.

I tried calling again, and the same thing happened—twice more. I couldn’t believe it. I just wanted to ask about the sauce options for dietary reasons, as I planned to order through DoorDash, which doesn’t provide this kind of information. I even tried calling other locations, but some of their direct lines appeared to be cut.

I’ve eaten here before the pandemic, but after this experience, I don’t think I’ll be coming back.

Main issues:

Rude and unprofessional behavior: The employee hung up multiple times, seemingly on purpose, even when I was simply asking a dietary question.

Lack of customer service: Repeated hang-ups suggest a disregard for customers and their concerns, especially when dietary restrictions are involved.

Inconsistent phone support: Attempts to call other chains also proved difficult, as some direct lines were cut off, making it impossible to get needed information.
