The restaurant itself is okay, however. The owner himself is very unresponsive flaky and disorganized. We were interested in booking him for Filipino catering. initially, he reached out to us looking to help. He was unresponsive for weeks and when it came to work he did not want any answers. He was extremely unprofessional providing no quotes for services and then offering catering after he initially agreed. If you want Filipino catering in general work with Lumpia House or Taiwan restaurant. The unprofessionalism of the owners spoke volumes. He does not care about the consumer.
Edited After Owner Response:
Since the owner has taken it upon himself to note everything I feel as if we should also highlight his failures as we took notes as well. Saturday, September 28 we went to Aloha Pacific to speak with the owner to see if we could potentially find a caterer or Filipino caterer in the area. The owner then very clearly stated he did not do catering but asked for my mother's phone number maybe he had a friend who could cook the whole lechon. HE LATER REACHED OUT offering. We did not press or ask. He offered a series of dishes and entrees which were all enticing. At no point was a set budget given or stated only our budget that we had confirmed with our previous caterer with the set amount of guests we had. AT NO POINT did we say this is all we are willing to pay? We did not SEEK this business but they then offered to cater acknowledging that they had no means to do so. We were even willing to outsource waitstaff ourselves. But red flags came when he asked my mom to include chaffing dishes instead of having the dishes already be brought. My mom asked for a quote for services to see what food he has. What can we pick? What are our options? This was met with long lengthy conversations to which he never gave us PHYSICAL cost estimates. My mom waited 2 weeks for an estimate and when she called him his response was “Oh I was waiting on you.” we wasted Almost 2 weeks of planning and preparation because the owner could not take the time out of his day to work with us. He SOUGHT us out. We just wanted lechon belly initially. Read his response with caution and know he did not turn down any business with us until we had to go out of OUR way go confirm he could not do it. After posting my review the owner decided to call my mom weeks after all of this takes place. Do...
Read moreI am always excited to see a new food place , that is not a big chain , and even better when it is a different type of food, This was not what I was expecting , it is more like a Poke Bowl / Subway. You go down a line and make several choices based on the size you want : small is one base ( rice , noodles etc) , 1 protein , 1 side and toppings ( fried garlic , sesame seeds etc) or 2 and 2 , 3 and 3. I got the aloha rice , it was green and I am still not sure what it had in it as the girl serving mumbled different things as people asked. I am pretty sure she said chicken broth and ginger , it was ok , but cold even though it was on a steam table. I topped it with SPICY Aloha chicken , which was good , but not spicy. I did add a house spicy sauce , which tasted like kicked up Siracha , it was good , but not really spicy. I had buttered yams on the side. It was good , but as a friend of mine pointed out , more of a fusion , not really the Hawaiian experience I was hoping for, they do have a " MORE HAWAIIAN " menu ( Loco Moco etc.) , but that is to order , not the line food. They are not cheap for line food , but I guess they have to pay for the new strip center. I do hope they stay , as I will be back to try something else and I do like the diversity...
Read moreI was really craving Hawaiian food while I was in town for a week long training session. I’m now kinda upset I don’t have one of these nearest me, because this place is amazing! The Classic plate with two entrees and two sides was the perfect bang for your buck meal, and even left me with something to take back to the hotel after eating in. I’ve never had “Aloha Rice” before, but I may start making all my rice like they do from now on. The spicy Molokai chicken and the spicy Aloha chicken were both the perfect amount of spice with their respective flavor profiles, which was countered nicely by the cool and fresh macaroni salad. I also tried the yakisoba noodles since you can do half-and-half with the base, and lastly i was super surprised I could do Harumaki for one of my sides at no extra cost! For the record, it was crunchy but you could tell it had been in the warmer for a little bit (temperature was a little low but still warm enough). I will definitely be recommending this place if I’m ever back in the Corpus Christi area, again I’m super upset this is a small hidden gem but also glad that maybe it should stay that way. Chain Hawaiian Restaurants lost touch with their roots, this place keeps the soul of the food alive with its fresh menu and...
