Well, my experience today was not worth my trip here. It has been a long time since I have been here , but boy has it changed and not for the better. I ordered a Jr. tortilla wrap with salad bar and sides. The good news: The wraps are HUGE with a ton of meat on them. The bad news: Everything was stone cold , the tortilla was completely cold , the meat was all cold , and that was not all that was cold . I love butter beans ,apparently, so does everyone else it was empty except for the bean juice , I said something, so a new pan was brought out and added to the existing pan. I did eat a few bites of all of it, then decided that no matter how good , I should be served hot food. I went to Henry and told him my beans were cold , as was my wrap, the meat, and the tortilla , I asked if they had a microwave. The worker that brought the beans out said , "No, they are hot." Henry got some in a bowl, looked at me, and said no, they are hot. Ok , I got a 2nd bowl, took to my table , and lukewarm at best. He never came to do anything about the wrap. I finally got a to go box ( I have a microwave at home). I did go speak to Henry and told him I was a local guide and would be writing this all down. He did not seem to be concerned. In fact, he did come to my table to see where my review would be so he could read it. The food is still good , just cold , and if I wanted cold or lukewarm food , I would come back , but now.... I'm not sure . I am sure they don't care about my opinion or my business. By the way , a man at the table next to me said his beans were cold as well.

We have pretty high expectations when it comes to BBQ, and Howard’s met them!! The meats were all delicious and cooked perfectly. The brisket was so tender, juicy and flavorful it melted in my mouth! The jalapeno sausage had great flavor and was also cooked perfectly. The ribs were meaty and well cooked. They weren’t sloppy fall of the bone, but stayed together for a good bite. We also tried the chicken, which was flavorful, especially with the house bbq sauce which had a distinct honey flavor. I loved it!! I also loved the bar full of sides so you can choose your own. There was a fresh salad bar, along with 3 kinds of beans to pick from. Don’t miss out on the Cole slaw, probably the best cole slaw side I’ve had at a bbq place! There are apples in it, it’s so good! The potato salad was also tasty. Grab a slice of carrot cake for dessert, you’ll thank me later.

As we have traveled Texas, we always have to sample local BBQ where ever we go. In Corpus Christi we stopped into Howard’s BBQ in our quest to find the best. We were not disappointed. It started in the parking lot of all places. The smell of BBQ in the air was our first pleasant surprise. When we walked in we were taken back to a real family style BBQ environment. We absolutely loved the atmosphere. When we saw the menu they had everything we wanted and a lot more. We have to tell you, that after experiencing tremendous BBQ with all the sides you could want, we then hit the salad bar and were even more impressed. Let’s just say they made us feel right at home and our lunch was absolutely amazing. I hope everyone can experience it for themselves.

3.5 stars here. 4 stars for the meats, 2 for the sides. Somewhat hidden joint in an industrial area off the beaten path but the large number of pickups in the lot told me that it wasn’t a place that is unknown. Unable to see pits here but learned they burn mesquite rather than the more common post oak. Surprising lack of smoke aroma on arrival. Counter service spot where the meats are kept warm in a series of pans and you choose from an extensive menu of choices-brisket, ribs, quarter chicken, ham, sausage, turkey breast. Available as plates, sandwiches, and unique “tacos”. And some quite large baked potatoes went by as we made our decisions. Everything is ready by the time you reach the end of the counter and pay. Sauce provided from behind the counter was quite sweet. All sides-both cold and hot-are self-serve from a long salad bar set up in the dining area. Our meal choice was a 3-meat platter, with Pork loin, sausage, and turkey. Here was our feelings on our meal this visit.

Sausage: earns an A for the perfect amount of peppery bite Turkey: A+ for smokey flavor, moist with no sauce needed Pork Loin: overly dry, decent smoke ring. Would have been better fresher. Potato salad: tasted quite strongly of pickles Corn and Green Beans: overcooked and soggy Carrot Cake: a big winner. homemade tasting more akin to a spice cake with delicious icing

The pricing here is very reasonable for the quality and I would definitely return on another visit to the area. Just need to be careful in your choosing of the freshest...

This is my first time eating at Howard's Barbecue. I went to the drive-thru. I'll tell you It is the best barbecue I've eaten in a very, very long time. I got a sliced brisket with sausage on a bun. It was delicious. They are very, very generous with their meat. Sometimes you go to places and you want to know where the meat is. Also, it was not greasy. Their barbecue sauce is perfect. I loved it, I ate some of their potato salad and I am very picky about potato salad and it was great. Most barbecue places their Potato salad has so much mustard in it that it just overwhelms the potato flavor. Not this place, it was so good. There was nothing that I did not enjoy. The lady at the drive-thru was so nice and friendly. I enjoyed my conversation with her while I waited which wasn't very long at all. I would give this place a ten-star rating if they had them, excellent food!!! I will definitely come back with my husband and friends and I will send anybody and everyone to eat there. Thank you for having such exceptional food. At very reasonable prices I wish I had a photo of it but I ate it too...
