A bit confusing for a first-timer. I came for open-mic night and was expecting a single room with seating and a stage/performance area, but that wasn’t the case. I walked in the front door and there wasn’t any host and I wasn’t greeted until I looked lost trying to find a menu. The person greeting was at the bar across the room, so I go and order at the bar. I got sweet tea and it wasn’t great. It looks like they have a gallon of unsweet that they pour into a cup they fill with syrup or something from the bar on tap. There’s not enough sweetener to sweeten the drink. Waited for about 15 minutes for my pizza to come out, which is expected. Came out nice and hot, but they called on a speaker that there was an order for my name at the window. The speaker was too loud for the empty room, but I figured the volume is set for when it’s fuller on the weekend. There wasn’t anyone going to get it so I go to the window and pick it up. The guy looked a little confused/surprised, but told me how to carry the pizza tray. I wasn’t given a plate or any napkins until halfway through the pizza. It was nice and hot, but with the thin crust it had, the center of the dough wasn’t done enough so it didn’t come out quite crispy or soft, but in-between, kind of like stale crust, but it was fresh. I also had to go up to the bar for a refill of my tea. I wasn’t sure if that’s how I was supposed to do it or not or if I had to pay for a refill. I had wanted to sit, eat, and enjoy the show, but I had no idea if there was seating to eat in the “venue” side or not, so I finished my food before going over to that side.
The decor of the restaurant side was nice and had a good vibe, but when it’s empty it feels a bit weird. I think it wants to be a bar and a restaurant and a concert venue, but the execution of combining everything leaves more to be desired.
Although I didn’t get one, I liked that they have a list of “mocktails” for those (like myself” who don’t drink alcohol. I just wish I saw them on the menu before I sat down and looked through the table flip
As for the venue side, I enjoyed it much more, especially since there were people participating in the open mic night.
There was seating over there and it looked like a waiter was taking care of the tables, but that might have been...
Read moreThe waitresses were extremely rude, one of them brought our appetizer and literally tossed it at us and we didn't know why because we were nothing but nice. Food is terrible! The appetizer was literally just a random Italian bread with some cheese sprinkled on top which was super over priced for something so simple. We order two diet cokes and they tasted really bad and we just drank a few sips and asked to have water instead because the sodas tasted bad and the waitress still charged us for the sodas at the end of the night even though we didn't drink much of the soda and returned them. The food took about an hour to come out which honestly isn't even a big deal but when we got the pizza, the dough was completely undercooked. The only reason we ate it was because we were so hungry after a long day of walking and don't like to waste food. Again the waitress was in such a bad mood but i kept smiling at her and trying to make her feel comfortable but she was so mean for no reason. We ended up paying $40 for two small pizzas and one appetizer and usually I wouldn't mind but the food was just terrible and not worth price. The stools were super uncomfortable and had no cushion on them and the only chairs that looked comfortable were super close to the stage and we didn't want to sit there because the music was too loud. Also there was a band that played really good music but the artist before them was so bad. The place is cute but not a good restaurant, probably...

Many bands who are now world known have played here. Many people who loved to live on the wild side came to enjoy enjoy and accept this place as omost a second home. many friendships were made and on rare occasions hearts were broken and sometimes love was found in this place, rather it be stage diving into the sea of people or singing on stage, all the way from bands telling the story of their journey that got them on that stage. You can always count on house of rock to be one of our city's more underground places for the strange and rough. Over the years house of rock has tamed itself. While offering comedy hours, and more mainstream laid back music, while now serving more then lone star beer and quarters for pool tables, they have keep the look and vibes close to how it was back in it's prime. But with a more adult and mature audiance. They also offer pizza :) you never know where the night will end here. But you can bet...
