I got stuck in their tiny elevator along with three other people. It was between floors, so the door wouldn't open. Fortunately the call phone button worked. Their maintenance guy had to be called to free. If that wasn't bad enough (terrifying, many would say), my main complaint is with the maintenance staff and front desk staff being completely DISMISSIVE of the seriousness of the situation, and this is where I found it necessary to write this review so the public could be warned. They were never once apologetic on behalf of the hotel in any way, nor showed any concern for our situation after we were freed from the elevator -- almost as if it was already a prior issue they were familiar with. The woman at the front desk never once rose from her chair to address the situation but looked at me with a blank dismissive stare when I made a suggestion they take that particular elevator out of service. That's when I saw the maintenance guy approach the desk and I repeated to him they need to turn that elevator off until it can be inspected (I was just trying to do my part to to make sure the right thing was done to keep it from happening to anyone else). And he told me, and I quote, "We can't shut it down just because you say so." That caused me to just turn and walk out, concluding what I was dealing with, and what I was saying meant nothing to them. Even though they had two other functioning elevators, the maintenance guy ALLOWED the elevator to continue to be used -- because when I returned that evening it was the one that open (of the three) when I pushed the button, so I took another one up to my room. The next morning when I was checking out I noticed an elevator-repair company was there to fix it -- but that maintenance personnel and the front desk staff never did the right thing -- thereby placing potentially more people at risk of being trapped again - a serious health hazard for some people, no doubt. If there was a building code being broken here, for them not shutting it down when there was a known issue, or a lawyer who would like to contact me, please feel...
Read moreMy partner and I are over-the-road truckers, and my partner owns and operates his own semi-trucking business. After a grueling 13-hour drive, we were looking forward to unwinding in a comfortable and relaxing hotel. Unfortunately, our stay at Best Western Suites in Corpus Christi was nothing short of disappointing.
First, the room itself was a letdown. We were expecting a nice view of the water and city, but our patio door was completely inoperable. We couldn’t open it for fresh air, and to make matters worse, the windows were so fogged up that we couldn’t see anything outside. One of the biggest reasons we chose this hotel was for the view, yet it was nonexistent.
The temperature in the room was another major issue. When we walked in, it was absolutely freezing. After a long day on the road, we just wanted to warm up and relax, but the heater took forever to kick in, leaving us uncomfortable for quite some time.
Then came the bathroom, which honestly presented a safety hazard. The shower door was poorly designed—my bf got his fingers stuck when trying to get in, and then again when trying to get out. On top of that, the shower had visible mildew. We took photos because no guest should have to deal with that level of uncleanliness.
Breakfast was another disappointment. The selection was minimal, the eggs were cold and rubbery, and the coffee was weak. The dining area was also not well-maintained, with trash overflowing and dirty tables everywhere. It was an unpleasant experience overall.
To top it all off, we barely got any sleep due to all these issues, which completely defeated the purpose of our stay. As business owners in the trucking industry, we rely on hotels like Best Western to provide a place to recharge. Unfortunately, this stay left us just as exhausted as when we arrived.
We truly hope management takes these concerns seriously. This location needs major improvements to meet even the most basic expectations of cleanliness, comfort, and...
Read moreWe stayed 4 days during Spring Break and had a great experience! We initially had a room on the tenth floor which is the floor right below the breakfast serving area. From 6am until after 10am we were constantly being woken up by what sounded like a very loud rolling cart. After that experience, I asked if we could be moved to a different floor and Mandy at the front desk let me know that rooms were being cleaned and she'd try to find us something else. We went on about our day and I got a call from Mandy telling us that she was able to get us another room! We were so thankful because I'm not sure I could've handled another sleepless morning! The first room we were in was very small, just big enough for a king bed and two end tables. The second room we were in was much more roomy and had a desk as well. The beds were just firm enough without feeling like we were sleeping on a slab of cement. All of the front desk attendants greeted us anytime we walked in or out of the hotel and were all very friendly. The only other issue that we had was the wait for an elevator. There are 2 elevators, both of which are very small. Maybe 5 people can fit in comfortably without any luggage, but the management noticed how busy it was and opened up the employee elevator for guest use as well which greatly helped after that. The hotel is right off Shoreline Boulevard so you get a great view of the bay no matter what room you are in. Mind you we had a room on either side of the hotel. The Selena Memorial Statue is within walking distance as well if you plan on visiting. I'd love to give 5 stars but the fact that the 10th floor has to deal with the sounds of the breakfast rush would not be great for someone who isn't able to move rooms and sleeps in longer than 6am. The eleventh floor also houses a bar but I'm not sure how loud that would be for the rooms on the floor right below it. Parking is also cramped and the extended lot was shared by the restaurant...
