Tonight was date night. Let me start with the food. It was excellent. Great flavor great portion dream price for obvious home made food. Why two stars? We came in a little after 8 asked to sit at bar. "no it's dirty in here any way, and we have a new bartender that needs extra time" so we were lead to a table. Unusual but no big deal. At this point we order our drinks a Jack and coke and a margarita. Both were pushed aside as we could not taste any alcohol. We asked for beers. Then orders our dinner. At this point attitudes flared as everyone was frantic and cleaning around us. Making it clear we over stayed our welcome 9:00. The other guest leave as the staff begins vacuuming. We were then surrounded by three vacuums. One by my left wife at right to right of her vacuum and in front of us vacuum. My wife and I obviously being pushed out asked why. The manager cindy kept her multiple employees trying to intimidate at bay while we discussed what happend while my wife was in tears. Our food was comped. That didn't make up for the disrespect continued from a waitress not even ours and the stares of the bus staff. We even over heard a joke about "shanking" me if I went to the bathroom. Funny. Haha. Again foods great not giving the service a 2nd chance though I can tell manager does try she has no control of her staff. If this place has truly been around since 1952 it's quickly...
Read moreA friend brought my daughter and I soup. I didn’t know what to expect. It was two 8oz to go cups filled with soup, wrapped in plastic wrap. Looked like a basic to go cup of soup. I didn’t know what soup was inside, or where it came from. It was a mystery to say the least. When I sat down and unwrapped it, and took the lid off, the smell was nice, it looked thick and wholesome, it wasn’t until I stuck a spoon in and mixed it around that I realized it was chicken and dumplings. I took a bite, and let me tell you what, it was the best tasting chicken and dumplings I’ve ever had in my 25 years of life on this earth. It was creamy, the chicken was so tender, the dumplings weren’t too big or small, or chewy. All of the veggies inside were cooked perfectly. I could tell it was cooked long and slow. The flavor was the best part of it. It tastes so darn good. I asked her where she had gotten it, and she told me. Now I understand why everyone recommends this restaurant.
I can’t speak about the atmosphere of the restaurant, or the other food items on the menu, but I will say if you enjoy chicken and dumplings, I personally recommend you try out...
Read moreSo excited about trying this place. Not sure what I expected, mostly I think, to aolve the mystery in my head about a restaurant named P.O.E.T.S. Are there poems? Is poetry read aloud? Is it connected to a famous poet? Does P.O.E.T.S. stand for something in no related to poetry at all? So, we go in and find a bar- uh oh, maybe the child can't be here. But no, through an open doorway lies the restaurant and yes, kids are fine there. As I looked around, the clientele reminded me of that at a Luby's but rougher. These are senior citizens that clearly like beer, wine and/or various mixed drinka with dinner. No biggie. Kind of entertaining. The service good- very good. The food was fine. Not anything extraordinary, but fine. Anyway, there were not poets, or poetry, nor photos, decor or any reference what so ever to why this place is called P.O.E.T.S. I really dont think there should be periods between the letters as there is no indication that it stands for anything at all. Just, kind of a place that's a bit wierd with only ok food. We probably wont go there again but I'm not necessarily...
