My wife and I just went in for our first time for our anniversary, and let me telllllll you. The experience was all around amazing. The staff were personable, extremely welcoming and just had a genuine vibe about them. Conversation didn’t feel forced and we had a lot of laughs with them. It was such a cool experience to watch our food be literally prepared in front of us, to have the Chef’s special as a surprise roll even to us. It was exciting to see him experiment and enjoy his craft as he freshly made and even NAMED a new roll for my wife and I (Which our server, Jenna, was so kind enough to write down the exact recipe down for us). The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, and just simply the vibe itself are all there and they’ve officially made complete fans out of us. The only complaint I could have is that they’ve been there for two years and I had no idea until tonight, with their location being a literal hidden gem. WILL be returning time and time again and I recommend anyone reading this do the same.

We tried Roaming Ronin for the first time and it exceeded our expectations. The restaurant is cozy with fun wall decor. Our service was fantastic- she was very knowledgeable about the menu, popular items, and how to customize it to our preferences. We took her advice and tried the spicy tuna roll. You can watch as they hand roll the sushi and the tuna tasted fresh. The small, clean pieces showcased some impressive knife skills. We split it between two and it was the perfect appetizer at a very reasonable price. We tried the chicken fried rice and a chicken Tokyo (pictured). The flavors are different than other Asian cuisine we’ve had before, highlighting the Texas touch the owner has incorporated. It tasted fantastic, the vegetables have a great tender but crunchy bite, and the chicken was juicy. We loved it and are already looking at what we’ll try next time we go!

I would call Roaming Ronin the perfect well-kept sushi secret of Corpus Christi and the selfish part of me wants to keep it a secret for myself, but on my good conscience I simply can’t. You have to try Roaming Ronin!!!! From the atmosphere, the friendly staff, down to the best sushi I’ve had— Roaming Ronin is a MUST try for ANYONE in Corpus who loves sushi and appreciates the extra efforts of a small veteran-owned business. They CARE about your experience and they listen. Not only were we taken care of but we were made to feel so welcome and had such a great experience. I cannot recommend Chef Eddie or his attentive staff enough. And I’ll just let the food speak for itself, because if you love sushi I know you don’t need me to tell you. Walk in with an open mind and an empty stomach, and you will not be disappointed.

We made reservations for 14 of us this evening. We arrived and were seated immediately. Part of our party was already there and seated when we arrived. They had ordered 2 beers and 2 waters, the waters werent served until we asked 3 times for the water. After all of the orders were taken, none of the menus were ever removed from the table nor were any of the dishes from our appetizers. Our food came out sporadically 45 minutes apart. 3 of us ordered the same dish, after we had been there for 1.5 hours I was informed that they had run out of slices beef and they were unable to fill that order. Leaving 1 of 14 without any food. Never did the manager come out to check on us. I asked to see the manager, the waitress went to get him and returned to the table stating " he says I can speak for him". Just wow! A table of 14 people, they ran out of food and the manager cannot be bothered. There has been our table plus 2 more tables of 2 people each, so the staff was not overwhelmed. When we asked the waitress to make sure to remove the 3rd beef dish from the ticket since we didn't receive it, her response was snippy and short. Considering we spent nearly $300.00 you would think she would have at least let us know early on in the meal that they couldn't fill the order instead of waiting until everyone else had eaten and then announce that the order couldn't be satisfied. Again, never saw a manager. So disappointed. On a positive note, the suicide edamame was...

We used to really like this place. The last time the wait for food was LONG, but it was good. This time, I wanted to walk out but my husband decided we should stay. Here are the issues:

The guy making the sushi honestly was grossing me out. I watched him handling a pen and paper while writing something, then stopping to drink from a cup and then going back to handle the raw fish, all without ever cleaning his hands. He had long curly hair hanging all over his face, which just made me think for sure you’re going to find that in your sushi. He also moved truly at a crazy slow pace, which is why the wait for food was so long.

When our 3 sushi rolls finally arrived, the sushi rolls with rice were falling apart before we could even eat them. They were loosely rolled, the rice was mushy, and there was tons of rice in them. It was really bad, y’all. And they used to be really good.

Service was ok. The one waitress was doing what she could. She was by herself and not was packed.

Our bill was almost $80 for 3 rolls and an appetizer. No drinks only water. Based on how long it took to get our food, the unsanitary handling of food by the guy making sushi, and the mushy rice and sushi falling apart, we won’t be back. Super sad because it used to be...

I don’t know who was in the kitchen when my husband and I ordered dinner through Uber - but it was very, very questionable upon arrival. We won’t be ordering again, or visiting in person - which is a shame as I was hoping this would be good food Corpus is so desperately in need of.

We ordered sauces, and were charged, that did not arrive. The edamame was odd looking, but when I tasted it was very OBVIOUSLY old, out of date and should not have been served. The vegetarian roll ordered was the most edible thing - and even with that I could tell the rice was wrong, hopefully just old and not reused. His dish had food squished in between the plastic lid and container that was not his dish - multiple contains had fingerprints outlined in grease and food particles (we hope). The beef dish I ordered (Tokyo?) was so greasy and poorly made, I attempted to eat it - but after the 3rd questionable crunch of beef - the first two had to be ligaments 😬- my stomach because unwell and nauseous.

I am now spending the near foreseeable future sick - very disappointing for a Friday date night; and waiting to see if Uber will refund the wasted money. Sadly since we ordered with them, it...
