“Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him, for this is his lot.” Ecclesiastes 5:18 ESV
Joy is from God! He gives us people and things that remind us of Him and therefore bring us joy! I've found Mita's to be one of those places and my girlfriend to be that person! Mita's was an unexpected delight! My girlfriend and I went during a trip to Corsicana to spend time with her friends. When I looked up coffee shops in Corsicana, it was the first option - and it's truly deserving of that! It's entrance makes it feel like a hidden gem. It's design/decor is tailored to bring people comfort. The servers are so polite and patient. Since it was our first time there, I asked for recommendations. The barista serving us, Lilith, did a great job and recommended me the Onyx Delight latte. I decided on that with almond milk - made for a tremendous combination (not too sweet and still strong)!! We also got an almond croissant which was a pleasantly delicious! We decided to eat outside on the outdoor patio (highly recommend unless it's super hot out 🥵)! The inside was was nice, with plenty of chairs, tables and one couch area that makes for amazing pics or vids (Check out the video)! We came back later to shoot a funny video at the front couch area and found out it's a owned by a Christian! Thank you to the owner, April, for doing a great job in designing a coffee shop that excels hospitality, kindness, heartfelt work and a highlight of Corsicana! My girlfriend also had a few thoughts of Mita's that I would like to share:
"Last week we visited Mita’s for the first time. The staff was super friendly and helped us pick out a drink from the menu! I got an almond milk latte and we shared an almond croissant! The two actually went together well since the latte wasn’t sweet. The shop is so cute inside and we enjoyed sitting on the patio together! Lots of good photo ops here! We will definitely be back if we find ourselves in...
Read moreMita's can only be described as an unassuming crown jewel hidden deep in the ruins of Corsicana. Growing up in Rice and Corsicana, my goal has always been to live out my days as far away as possible. I've been living in Houston for the last four years and have turned into quite the coffee snob. I've visited high end shops in several of the big cities and I can tell you that a great coffee shop is extremely difficult to find. With that said, Mita's is clearly the finest coffee establishment from Dallas to Houston.
Mita's has the perfect culmination of atmosphere, decor, and good vibe music. The interior has a rustic but lively feel. However, all of this pales in comparison to the highest grade of specialty coffee served. I had never heard of Onyx Coffee Labs before visiting here, but I can say that the small Arkansas roaster knows their way around a good bean!
All of this beauty swirls into one perfect coffee spot bringing my wandering city heart home to good ole Corsicana with a sense of nostalgia and hope. Corsicana has seen some rough years. Change doesn't come easy, but Mita's is slowly revitalizing a culture of youth and newness that this town is in desperate need of. I wish them the best, and will continue to visit ever...
Read moreAtmosphere - This is one of those places I wish I could visit everyday. I went to college in Denton and Mita's feels like a piece of home. Makes me want to get out my laptop and be creative for hours.
Events - Pre-COVID, they had little acoustic sets by local musicians and have local art on the walls and I love it.
Staff - The staff here are always SO sweet and genuine. If I can't decide what I want, they don't make me feel rushed and they reccomend things they actually like - not just popular items.
Coffee - The coffee is fresh and does the job. I don't eat/drink dairy products and they have all the options for me to choose from so thats awesome.
Food - The food I've had to privilege of trying was tasty and really creative – typical high end coffee shop stuff. The avocado toast sticks out in my mind.
Cons - I wish so much they were open 24/7 or at least later into the night. I know that would never happen in a town like Corsicana — I'm just more productive and enjoy most of my coffee at night 🌙 😅
Anyway, I'm done with my coffee and just wanted to say thanks for being the hidden gem in a town like...
