Came to meet some friends before the beavs game around 12:00 yesterday. 2 guys working up front. I was mistakenly looking at some specials that start at 4:00 and the bigger guy said “those start at 4:00”, I said “oh thank you sorry my eyes skipped that part” and I laughed. He looked miserable took my drink order, I said that I would like the seltzer on tap please. His demeanor was just overall rude and shouts “what flavor.” And I said “oh whatever’s on tap” he then screams WHAT FLAVOR you get a flavor!” I said oh I’m sorry I’ll take the berry. He reaches into the cooler and I was expecting him to grab a can so I said “oh actually I wanted it on tap not a can” , he was actually grabbing a glass then he finally explains in the rudest way possible that the tap has no flavor and you add a syrup to it, but he was shouting it so rudely. The skinny guy working along side him who I have seen there before was just laughing. Then while my boyfriend is signing the check that’s when his tone changed and he said thanks guys. Ha! Look- I know that it’s frustrating when a customer doesn’t understand something and they are annoying you but service with a smile my guy. I’ve worked in plenty bars, restaurants, golf courses, event centers and I know that good service requires you to simply be kind first. Not to mention I’ve never seen a seltzer on tap where you add syrup to it. It was cool but also uncommon so understand please that I didn’t get it. Left a dollar tip but wish I would have left more cause I know that anger mgmt classes...
Read moreFebruary 2015 - My first experience ordering food at the new Red Fox was deeply disappointing. A colleague and I went out to lunch today. We checked at the counter and were told we could sit outside and get waited on. We sat down, waited quite a while, and finally tracked down a wait person to take our order. Quite a while later she came back and said they were out of chicken for my chicken sandwich, and bacon for his BLT. We re-ordered, waited, waited some more, and finally after 45 minutes total of waiting, still no food, and we were out of time so we left. It wasn't even busy. If you want to operate a lunchtime cafe across the street from a major employer, you have to be able to deliver food within a reasonable time. I won't try it again - there are plenty of good options on Monroe that know how to serve their customers.
April 2015. OK, updated review: immediately after the above review, the owner, Cloud Davidson, contacted me and apologized very nicely, and asked me to give it another try so I went back for lunch. They have changed things around and our food arrived within minutes. It helped that almost no one was there. Although the menu includes some innovative options, other places offer better and/or cheaper lunch. BUT this is the best place on Monroe to sip a beer on a nice day. Their outdoor patio is wonderful, the beer selection is great, and if you're willing to think of the food as just a side dish for the beer, you won't be...
Read moreA fun, small and packed space that fills up with locals and students during games. Even though it gets packed with people, I veneer waited too long for a drink. The most amazing part was I ordered a fried chicken sandwich expecting it to take forever based upon the number of food orders going in, but I had it on my table in about 15 minutes and on the chicken sandwich… it was delicious. Hot and juicy with a dark golden crust that wasn’t too thick and thank gif for their decision to make it with lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise instead of slathering pickles and their juice all over it like other places.
Fun place to watch the games and the hard working staff were always cool. Students: you need to tip your bar and wait staff better. ...
