El curtido pupuseria — Restaurant in Costa Mesa

Little hole in the wall... sooo good. We already had our go-to Salvadorean restaurant buuuuut this place now has us questioning ourselves haha. The customer service is top notch, very friendly and attentive staff. The pupusas, although seemed a little pricier than our regular place, almost $5 a pupusa (Rice dough is the way to go) after receiving them, the price is more than reasonable. The pupusas are huge and extremely well stuffed. We ordered Revuelta con Jalapeño ( beans, pork, cheese and jalapeno) and an order of Plátano Frito. The plate for Plátano Frito had sooooo many fried plantains, it was a pleasant surprise, most places only put like 6 pieces for $10, but not here, this one was packed!

This resturant has an El Savador Flag displayed in their lobby. So Im not sure if this is why the soup I had WAS THE BEST IVE EVER HAD!!! I ordered Caldo de Res (beef soup). Something I always order from most Latin base resturants. But this resturant soup had a good amount of meat, tons of veggies, and a good helping of yuca in it. The broth so flavorful! Their soup came with a side portion of rice and home made tortillas. The tortilla was nice and thick almost like a small pita. It was sooooooo good. I definately will come back!!! I brought my family to try this pupuseria, and the reviews were spot on—this is a great place. I had never had rice flour pupusas before, and while they were a bit chewier than expected, I enjoyed the taste of the masa. The pupusas were delicious and generously sized—two were enough for me. Next time, I’ll try the corn flour pupusas, but based on my experience, I’d definitely recommend this place...
