Lots to say about this new place. Overall I enjoyed my experience but there were certainly some things I'd recommend for improvement Food quality & portion with the price is super reasonable The service was quick but a little too quick. They could use work on timing. Our first appetizer came out exactly 1 minute before our meal. I hate feeling rushed and especially hate choosing between my appetizer and meal and deciding which one I have to let get cold. The 2nd appetizer came 5 to 8 min after all of our meals were delivered. Did not like this at all. What's the point of an appetizer then? The menu is good with lots of options. The keto menu is interesting. My parents brought me because of the keto menu. I've been applying keto for 4 years and what they have on the menu is not what I would consider keto at all. They really need an understanding of food ingredients that contain any sugar or carbs. For example balsamic vinegar is far from keto with high sugar. They need to push blue cheese and ranch with zero carbs. Tomatoes as well can kick you out of ketosis fast if you have too many. And salads, depending on the vegetables are not necessarily low carb Good news is, the rest of the menu is 75% keto. Fish, seafood, and all the meats have no carbs. They should be pushing things like the warm Seafood salad with a substitute to the lime vinaigrette for blue cheese or ranch. Literally 1 carb or two in the entire meal. All the food was super tasty but my warm Seafood salad had a couple of broken clam shell pieces. Or possibly sand, both in the lettuce undetectable until I bit down on it. Not sure how to avoid this. I absolutely loved my salad and would get it again but proceed with caution. One of my teeth is sore unfortunately. The beer on tap...
Read moreSimply Fish...is not just simply fish. The menu is extensive and has an array of offerings for most palettes! Surf & Turf, Shellfish, Meats, Signature Salads, Tacos, Sandwiches, Bowls, Keto. There's also a good selection of beers: Red Trolley Ale, Big Wave Golden Ale, Stella Artois, Estrella Jalisco, Space Dust IPA, Overcast Hazy IPA, Mission Brewing San Diego Blonde. Wine and Margaritas are also served along with a soda bar, tea, lemonade. The employees are all very helpful and friendly. The atmosphere is open, welcoming & fun. Music selection is spot on! Great mix of songs. Loud enough to enjoy the songs. Low enough so you can still enjoy table conversations. Now for the yummy stuff! Today is the Grand Opening! I had to start off with Medium Rare Ribeye with Asparagus and white rice. I also had the Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimp. Both super delicious! The Ribeye was cooked to my liking. It was well seasoned. The Asparagus was not too soft or too hard and had a good grilled taste to it. The white rice was also cooked perfectly. They were great compliments to my Ribeye. Of course, there are other sides to choose from. Now for the Fettuccine Alfredo with Shrimp. It had the right amount of creamy Alfredo sauce. Anyone who knows me, knows I am all about the sauce and this Alfedo sauce made me smile and hum with content every time it hit my mouth. Creamy, cheesy, yummy. And the shrimp. Oh, my goodness, the shrimp! 10 plump butterflied shrimp! Grilled and full of flavor. All I can say is that both dishes made my taste buds dance & my tummy happy! I highly recommend coming out to enjoy a meal here. I know once you do, you will keep coming back! The best compliment is a recommendation to all you know. So...
Read moreCame here during happy hour. It was pretty empty. But totally worth the happy hour. We were able to get so many items for such a good deal!!! I’ll go in order from my favorite to least favorite apps lol.
The fish and chips are to die for!!! Omg they were definitely the best thing on the menu. 🐟 (my favorite but not my friend’s favorite). 😍
The clam chowder was so so amazing too and my friend loved it!! 🥣 It is more creamy and thick, which I love!!
Next, the poke nachos. Great overall. They give you a lot of fish!! And the chips were nice and crunchy and perfect for the poke. My friend thought the poke could use more of the sauce but I thought it was fine!
Next the calamari. I was not impressed. It was very chewy and rubbery, more than usual. Not sure if it’s due to the shape - it looked more like mozzarella cheese than normal calamari. lol. It was ok. Would not order again though.
Then, we got the blackened ahi tacos and those were a bust. 🌮 I do appreciate how large the fish chunks were. These were definitely huge tacos. However they were really really dry and just not great.
And finally, my least favorite were the steamed clams BUT I don’t like clam in general!!! It came in a little tea pot which was cute and the server also gave us each a bowl of the clam water which was kinda gross and tasted so fishy Lolol. It also came with pieces of garlic bread which my friend said if you eat that with the clam, it tasted much better!
Overall, would definitely come here for happy hour...
