Green Chilis was recommended as a place to try for my birthday lunch. I'm usually a 'Mexican food for my birthday' guy, but I was up for something new. I'm glad I took the suggestion. The space is lovely, with good energy and a mix of clean and spices. I had the chance to meet the owner, who told me that he would be making some changes. I'm excited to come back and see what he does. As an appetizer, I ordered Samosa, crisp pastries filled with potatoes and peas served with fresh mint and Tamarind sauce. The Samosas were crispy, flaky, and stuffed. The Tamarind sauce is gold! There is a Lunch Menu with some good selections, so I ordered Vindaloo Chicken. It is cooked with hot spices & potatoes, and freshly squeezed lemon. It comes with rice and Kachumber. I also got an order for Garlic Naan. Leavened flatbread is sprinkled with garlic and cilantro, and lightly spread melted butter on top. It was warm, buttery, and delicious. The piece is big enough that I brought some home. One of the reasons that I wanted to go to Green Chilis was to try the Chicken Tandoori. Boned chicken legs marinated in yogurt, herbs & spices cooked in the tandoori oven served with sauteed green peppers and onion and topped with fresh cilantro & lemon. It came on a sizzling hot plate that announced its arrival with a dramatic entrance. The chicken had just the right amount of spice, char, and juices. The bed of grilled onions with lime juice made it just right for a birthday lunch. For dessert, I got Rice Pudding. Lightly sweetened rice cocked in a saucepan with whole milk & Indian herbs. I was too full, so I brought it home along with one of the chicken legs. If you are in the area, try it and say hello to Chef Paul. You can taste the love and passion for cooking in every bite. I'll be back even if it's not...
Read moreMe and my husband always try new food every time we eat out, this time i suggested indian food and he wasn't too excited about the idea, i think he had a bad experience before and it made his stomach upset and thought it was the spices that caused it, but he agreed to try t it anyways. I looked on Yelp and found it had good reviews, we originally wanted to try Usmania restaurant but they were closed between 2 and 5 , and i'm glad we came here because the food was amazing. We ordered chicken tikka masala which was sooooooo good especially when you dip the garlic nan bread in it its amazing! that was my favorite! we also ordered the Nahari which i didn't enjoy much just because it was wayyy too spicy for me but surprisingly my husband thought it was a bomb! He loved it! My brother in law too he loved both dishes. We ordered a third dish which is a combo of chicken skewers, tandoori chicken thigh and leg and spicy beef kabab, they werent that good not alot of flavours and too dry, next time we just won't order them. Beef Samosa was not bad but too small. The food took a while before it was ready because they make everything fresh and i think it's worth the wait, its also very affordable we paid 50$ in total including drinks and it was more than enough for the three of us. All in all we really enjoyed the food and definitely going...
Read moreSpecial microwave only food place. I always feel nervous at any place that completely cover up their kitchen and taste of the food confirms it for me. I am a foody especially when I am traveling and have tried about 3000 Indian/Pakistani restaurants in and out of U.S. never had a worse experience than this place. All the food was undercooked and the guy behind the counter who is touching his cell phone, money and cash register will bring your food without washing his hands and then when I asked to cook my tandoori chicken a little bit more (which was cold and pink inside) starts arguing with me that his food is perfectly cooked and can't be cooked anymore confirmed the use of microwave. How else you could make tandoori chicken in 7 minutes. Fixing the guys attitude will stop driving customers away. Because people have the same complaint he put up a sign we don't use microwave but still have a completely closed kitchen with lots of microwave inside. Very bad service, very bad taste, if you want to get sick for some reason I would recommend to go to this place to eat all microwave...
