"Its only worth it if you Enjoy it " "Dont judge a book by it's cover"
I took my toddlers into this place as i take them out to breakfast every saturday. We ordered the same thing we usually do on Saturdays a side of sausage a side of bacon a small orange juice and order of fries and i order an entree with a side of cottage cheese. Upon entering i asked for a table in the back. I was denied loudly and repeatedly by the chef because it was a 9 top. I repeatadly asked for the smaller table but was ignored. Then my over zealous server came over who seemed like she has been taking diet pills or some form of stimulant for about 48 years. i ordered for us . my food was brought out fresh and in a reasonable amount of time. it was fine. Not gourmet. It was ok. It was good. For the price i could have enjoyed an amazing breakfast and experience at silver fork lodge . 50 dollars for one entrée and 3 sides! When i asked about it they were quick to explain they recently increased their prices. Embarrassed me my then having another greedy what seemed to be owner come break my check down after i had already told them it was fine and to run my card treating me as if i was unable to pay. In addition to that the cracked out server asked me if my meal was good so many times I was annoyed. Had this breakfast been in the range of 20 to 30 dollars it would have been fine for what it was. But to charge that much for a two maybe 3 star experience is ridiculous. It was not worth it. In addition to that they have an entire library of books that apparently you are not allowed to touch. There is nothing unique or extra about this dining experience the food was good but the annoying server the price and the humiliation's I received from questioning the bill created by obviously greedy owners will make me choose a different experience in the cottonwood heights area next Saturday. I am just wishing we would have went to silver fork or root'd for a 50 dollar breakfast where nothing was local or organic this place receives only 1 star from me . Like I said it wasn't about the money so much as knowing how rude greedy and basic people can be....
Read moreWell my husband and I just moved to Utah and we decided to go have some breakfast bc this place is in our neighborhood. It was our Servers first day and SHE WAS GREAT!!! She was very personable and friendly! We asked her a few questions about the area and she was extremely helpful. We were very pleased with her. However, we asked her for some paper to write down a few things and she gave us some paper and a pen. no big deal, right? NO!! apparently it was a major deal bc the other server ( 18 years old ) came over to her in front of us and 3 other tables and literally screamed at her. The young server was so rude and made a huge scene and totally embarrassed the new server. We felt horrible! The tables around us were shocked at the way this young girl acted! it was beyond unprofessional! The new girl was very upset as she should be!!! At this time the owner walked over to the new server in front of many tables at this time and asked the new girl to leave....right then!!! We felt so awful for this girl. The staff treated her very poorly and was incredibly mean to her. She handled herself well . she asked if she could speak to the owner and he said NO! just leave!!! WOW!!!!!!! We will never go there again. We will not support a restaurant that treats their employees like that!! The new girl was excellent!! a great server. The owner should have stepped in and told the young girl to leave! The new girl did absolutely NOTHING wrong. We will not give our money to a place like this! We will tell everyone we know about the abuse we saw at this place. I sincerely hope the new girl finds a better place to work. She is awesome and doesn't deserve to be publicly humiliated! To watch the owner handle this situation so poorly is very disappointing!! This experience would have been great but it turned into a nightmare. I hope this girl calls the labor commission and reports them! DO NOT GO HERE!!!! BAD MANAGEMENT AND BAD...
Read moreThe meal was decent and I can't complain about the service. I've driven by this restaurant on numerous occasions and finally decided to give it a try. After reviewing the options I went for an omelet that had the gyro meat as a part of the filling. It came with potatoes, and I asked for sour dough toast as the option. The server brought out a little ramekin with some butter pads and Smuckers jam, and my breakfast soon followed.
The potatoes were cooked well, a little crispy and tasty. I rarely add salt to food, but found the potatoes needed some salt. The toast, well, the toast. It wasn't really sour dough. I'm sure the bag said sour dough, but it seemed like wonder bread, cut thin, with an off flavor. The flavor came from some liquid butter substitute that was slathered all over the toast. 1st off, why would you do that? 2nd, why give me actual butter if my toast is already slathered in oily nastiness? Not even the jam could remove the flavor of the oil. If I go back I'll be sure to make sure to request my toast not have that on it.
Next I busted into the omelet. The eggs were good and fluffy, not dry or overcooked. There was some browning on them, but that probably came from the melting of the cheese on top. All in all for a folded over, not tri-folded omelet, it was good. But, yes, I have a complaint about it. The gyro meat. It had the texture of light and airy styrofoam. As I left the building I saw the vertical rotisserie with the meat, and saw why the meat was so odd. It appeared to be a perfectly formed, multi sided combination of mystery meat and bread, rice, or some other filler. Imagine chicken nuggets, but more air, and doesn't taste as good, and that was the gyro meat.
Ranting done. Overall the meal was so so. If you haven't tried it out, go ahead and do so. Given that all meals are different for everybody, it's...
