Okay, I'm really trying to be better at the ratings that I give, but honestly, I don't know what they could have done to make this dining experience better. Everything was done well! The service was outstanding! It didn't matter who the server to our table was, every employee that passed our table on the patio checked on us. The beginning of this experience started with their prickly pear cactus margarita. Perfect! I ordered a chimi with red sauce and then ordered queso cheese to go with it. This comes out of the kitchen with beans and rice then a small garden of Pico, lettuce, tomato, and sour cream on the side. I am a ground beef kind of guy so I ordered it with ground beef. I put a little queso on it and then cut into it before taking the picture. This meal was really good! I was only able to eat half and had to bring the rest home with me. And mind you, our waiter brought me a cup for the queso, a cup for salsa, a bag for the chips, & a container for the leftover food. I didn't even ask for him to do so! Everyone is friendly and the food is amazing! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the...
Read moreThere are many favorable reviews of Concho's. But based on our experience, I wonder: Did we unfortunately order not-very-good entrees? Or, was it an odd "off" night for Concho's? Or, do the other reviewers not know good food? Hmmm. I dunno. But, I do know this, our food was bland, nearly flavorless.
My wife opted for the chicken mole - we always go for mole where it is available. I went with the tamales, another "must try" when available. Both were meh or even less than meh. The only tasty thing on our table was the salsa that came with the free chips.
Surprisingly, the tamales were huge!! How do they fit those big boys in a steamer? The chicken in the mole was thin-sliced, over-cooked, dry and tough.
I don't have a strand of Mexican DNA but my home-made mole and home-made tamales put Concho's to shame.
Judging from the fact that all the other Mex restaurants in Cottonwood have similar great reviews, I probably won't try mexican in this town again.
I'll end on a positive note - the service was wonderful. Immediate and constant attention. Food arrived timely. Friendly. Five star service. I left a...
Read moreMy husband and I got takeout from here for just the two of us on May 15th. The food was okay, however, a few days later when we looked at our credit card statement. We noticed a charge for $69. Our original total was $29. Which means whoever closed out our check gave themselves a $40 tip. We both work in food service and know that this isn’t something that just happens without the server noticing. So we called the manager multiple times and he kept blowing us off saying, I’ll find the check call back tomorrow. And when we called back, “I haven’t had a chance to look at it yet, call back Monday.” Eventually we had to take things up with our bank instead, to get our money back. Obviously not everyone who works here is a thief, but whoever took care of us that night was. Thought it was especially odd considering we tipped 20% on Togo food it’s not like we were rude and left nothing. Honestly there’s plenty of restaurants in town, that to me it wouldn’t be worth the worry of having to deal with a similar situation. Just go somewhere...
