My favorite Mexican place in Northern Arizona. I've been going to Jaunita's for over 20 years. They have great food. But they also have a problem, too many gringos have started going there. You don't go here for Chimichangas with guac and sour cream. You go here for the "fun" meat tacos, burritos, tortas, seafood, etc. If the idea of a burrito/taco filled with onions, cilantro and cabbage bothers you, don't go here. If you want your Mexican food slathered with cheese and sour cream, don't go here. If you won't try Tripe, Lengua, Cabeza, etc, don't go there. All you gringos are ruining it for the regulars, which used to be few gringos with taste, like me, and Mexican workers/families. We can't go anymore, because it's packed, which is good for Juanita's, but also bad. I fear they'll cave to your gringo taste. Dear Juanita's, get rid off all the gringo options from your menu, so the dumb gringo's will go away. lol They have so much good stuff, it's hard to pick a favorite. Tortas, Albondigas, Menudo, Seafood cocktails with shrimp, oysters and octopus, flan, and the bean burrito enchilada style. ...they have the best enchilada sauce I've ever had. If you go there, watch what the Mexican's order, and stop being stupid...
Read moreMy family and I are in the Sedona area for the holidays. Juanita’s was pretty close and had great reviews. As a family of 7 going we were expecting it to be good but it was amazing. Prices are good/fair, service was fast and friendly, and the food was easily some of the best Mexican food we’ve ever had. The tacos (we got asada, birria, lengua (tongue), puerco (pork), and chicken) were juicy and delicious. The tortillas, chips + guac, tamales (pork and beef), tortillas, rice, and refrito were all fresh. The chicken quesadilla was stuffed and cooked perfectly. Flan was top notch (like close to my grandma’s) and churros can’t go wrong. Lastly their salsas were incredibly flavorful and the right level of spicy + the pickled onions were the best I’ve ever had.
Long story short this place is incredible and I would highly recommend to anyone looking for fantastic food at a fair price in the area. Next time we come to the area we will absolutely be back. I would drive even an...
Read moreVery authentic Mexican food! I have lived in the Verde Valley area for the past couple years and have been trying to find a place like this restaurant..This is the first place I have found that actually has great Mexican! The reviews don’t lie. Today was my first time visiting this establishment. I was greeted by a woman with a warm smile and the restaurant was clean and orderly. The menu was easy to navigate and even has pictures to show you what the food will look like. Which is really accurate. The meat I chose for my tacos were very flavorful! Usually when I order tacos from quote on quote “authentic” places the meat is dry and lacks flavor. These meats were gushing flavor.. They also have a nice salsa bar with many different flavors of salsa.. ranging from mild -hot!, limes, and pico. The time that I spent there I saw the staff being friendly towards guests.. they obviously have pride in their work..and it shows. Needless to say I will be back. (P.s) I never...
