Belfry Brewery — Restaurant in Cottonwood

Hmmm where to start.. cliche to say but I’m a bartender/server and it takes a GREAT deal of poor service to bring me to google reviews. Me and the family, three of us, came in about an hour before close last night. Food was absolutely delicious lemme make note of that. Our server was bubbly and all smiles. However she lacked the basic knowledge of touch points. As in when our food was delivered to our table she not once returned to check on us, not once. I was missing my salad and my mother a beer flight that we ended up canceling well because she never came back. The salad that on the menu claimed it was a 2.50 up charge to substitute with my burger. Turns out it’s 5 dollars but they haven’t updated the menu. Why is this significant because one, false advertisement. Two, 5 dollars is the price of a side salad anyways, so then I could have gotten the fries it came with and a salad for the same price. Pretty lame. Once more I didn’t get my salad til we got our check. And I only agreed to it because her phrasing was, “do you still want it? I have it coming out it’s real quick.” I agree just to be nice as I’m not at my wits end, yet. I don’t eat it and I’m still charged for it after everything, again whatever. When it’s time for the check she drops it off and we all have our wallets in our hand preparing to split it. She says I’ll give y’all a moment and comes back 5 minutes later, that is an eternity when your tables already frustrated. Ridiculous. You should come back two minutes after most anything hits a table. Especially food and a check. Now I’m upset. Especially because we are prepared to be difficult for a change and split the bill into separate tabs so that it’s fair since someone didn’t get their beer flight and had significantly less a footprint on the overall tab. Then after marking everything on the receipt for what goes to who numerically; two items with a one, two items with a two and one item with a three for what goes to which checks and hoping she could split the appetizer she brought us back the completely wrong checks at which point we are beyond annoyed. I mean it’s 6 items and written out for her convenience. Extremely simple. I don’t know I hate absolutely despise being this person but as I write this I feel justified, so much so that after reliving it I have changed my two star to a one star. There is Zach the GM who's has in his hands and amazing Vesion of the industry. Elevated the experience of dinning and has made the dinner idea or meal into a most amazing experience. This no longer a place to grab some food. No, this is now the very best experience you will have. The level of pure enjoyment on your pallet from the unique dishes coming out of the kitchen from Austin. With every bite, you'll feel the enjoyment with a pure smile of satisfaction. From his pasta dishes to how perfectly and I mean perfect cooked steak ( rare done, that's the only way) is just a thing you must fill your taste buds with. I can't speak more highly of there mixologist Arturo. I asked him to mix the drink that said this is who I am. And as a foodie, wine , beer and cocktails guy who will travel x the United States for a good meal. Arturo has shown his signature cocktail...and I have to say, and I swear this on my beloved father's grave. Arturo has made the very best drink I have had in my life. It touches every inch of your pallet with sure pleasure and enjoyment, take. Your mind. Yes mind to a place of just relaxation taken away all the b.s in life. And after that first swallow a instant feel of gratitude and happiness is left on your face. As if you were with your toes in the fresh cut grass enjoying the warmth of the sun on your face and a nice Arizona breeze in the air.Arturo is a very amazing artist. Belfry has a prime location in Old Town Cottonwood with a really neat vibe. However, I'm hard pressed to have the motivation to come back here again when there are so many great restaurants right around the corner.

Came with a group of friends on a Friday night. It was slow for a Friday night with only 1-2 other tables besides ours. Despite this, it took our server forever to stop by and take our drink order. We ordered food at the same time, because of how long we had waited for service. Our food ended up all coming out at different times, which was poor logistical management from either the kitchen or our waitress.

No one really commented on their food during our outing. I tried a few bites of my wife's sandwich and found it to be mediocre and overpriced. I got a fancier Mac N Cheese with meat in it (can't remember if it was brisket or rib-eye), which was actually incredibly delicious. The crime of this dish was that it was $26 and came out in such a tiny bowl that I thought it was a joke at first. Definitely a kid's sized portion of Mac N Cheese, except I paid $26 for it.

Our server also got our checks mixed up at the end and charged the wrong card to one of my friend's checks. Again, it wasn't super busy or anything so not sure how that happened.

Overall, I think this is a really neat location so it kind of bums me out that the service and food were not up to par. There are too many other great places to eat at Old Town Cottonwood, which makes it difficult for me to want to give this restaurant another chance. I also understand this is a brewery; my review is strictly based on their food...
