Having gone there dozens of times before and with above normal problems my wife and I decided to give their Brunch another shot and all I can say is "what a mistake". On two prior occasions they took my order for "eggs over easy" and completely forgot to bring them to me. I pad for what I ate and left, understanding that businesses experience problems from time to time I didn't write them off as the food tastes good. Like I mentioned previously I went this past Sunday for their brunch, we were told it would be a 20 minute wait which it was so no problem. After being seated our waitress took our order (three eggs over easy and a sausage and cheese omelette) we then proceeded to go to the buffet to the other foods that we were going to have along with our order. Needless to say 23 minutes (yes I timed it) later out comes our order, three eggs over well to say the least, not the end of the world but now the food on our plates had gotten cold waiting for the egg order. we asked the waitress to take what was there as we were going to return to the buffet area for "new" hot food, unfortunately when we got there the line was half way back to the dining car entrance. Knowing full well that had we waited for new "hot" food our eggs would be ice cold by the time we returned to the table. Completely disgruntled I returned to the table and picked up our belongings and headed for the door. I stopped by the register to let the young lady know about the problem and was told sorry, not a real sorry but one none the less. I paid for the coffee and ice tea that we ordered and left. I've dined all over the United States on business and any time I've encountered a problem like this a "manager" is usually summoned to see what the problem is or was, not in this case or any of the other times that they "forgot" my order. Bothers me most that they charged me for the coffee and ice tea after what we had experienced. Live and learn I wish them luck but I would never go back there nor would I recommend them to a friend. Not sour grapes but three strikes and you'e...
Read moreStruggled to find an Italian place on our trip to the Poconos that would really blow our minds. Kay’s definitely lived up to the hype. We drove over an hour on a Saturday night to try this gem and it was well worth the drive. The restaurant is small in an old train car and was very busy. We waited maybe 20 minutes which was nothing compared to what we are used to. Well worth the wait. We ordered a side of meatballs and the garlic knots to start which came with about 30 of them and we surprisingly ate every single one they were so delicious. House salad and Caesar salad were also superb as well. They also start you out with a tomato and cucumber salad, bread loaf, and homemade cinnamon rolls with your meal for free. All of that was to die for especially the cinnamon rolls which was a nice and different surprise to start your meal experience. We shared a chicken Parmesan and had to question whether there were two chicken breasts because this piece of breaded chicken was so thick and large. It was in fact one thick amazing breast. Sauce and cheese was excellent. We also tried a stuffed crust cheese pizza to keep it simple and really try to maximize our options of food. Best pizza we have ever had out of all the states and places we have gone. Cheese and sauce again were the best. Last but certainly not least…the desserts. Up front diner style they have cases and cases of homemade desserts. Everything you can think of from cupcakes, cookies, to cheesecakes. We chose a red velvet cupcake and a brownie cheesecake. Both were absolutely delicious. We don’t find food like this in Florida and we were very upset flying home the next day that we had to leave the leftover with the in-laws but we know they will enjoy it just as much. We will absolutely be back when we are in...
Read moreI’ve been here twice. First time a few years back, for a breakfast buffet. I’d give that experience 4 stars as the buffet was subpar at best but the cinnamon rolls are amazing. I think they still have those if you want to buy them.
Apparently they refitted the restaurant and menu to expand pizza production and remove the buffets. Good things to know upon my return. I ordered fried ravioli, a plain slice and pepperoni slice to see what the hype was about.
Fried ravioli are 5 pieces, heavily breaded and thinly filled; I could taste mostly egg and oil from the breading/frying, the Ricotta tastes old, unseasoned and without a hint of sweetness, very bizarre overall. The accompanying sauce was tasteless, a huge tomato flavor but not much else.
The pizza is BAD. I’d give this rating zero stars if I could for actually serving me this. The slice I had tasted like it was made the day prior and reheated today in an oven either not made for cooking pizza or not brought sufficiently up to temperature. The crust was stiff towards the edges and HARD in the middle, neither the bottom nor the crust had a speck of char, the sauce tasted like the same bland sauce I’d had with the ravioli and had lost some of it’s moisture overnight, inherited by the base which had turned a gluey consistency throughout the inside. Disgusting. The reheated cheese was very dry and not very good. The pepperoni slice was somehow even worse. Flat pepperoni eliminated the plain slice’s issue of dryness by providing a layer of tasteless grease to slide across the dry cheese. All in all, this is the worst pizza I’ve ever had anywhere.
Overpriced food at below average quality. I’d suggest reopening the buffets or researching recipes/equipment because this experience was...
