Our latest visit was decidedly sub-par. Our waiter seemed to have no idea what he was doing. He had to come back to the table half a dozen times to ask us questions about the entrees we had ordered. My wife and I each ordered soup and an entree. My soup came out, and 10 minutes later my entree came out but my wife did not have either her soup or her entree yet. When my wife's french onion soup eventually came out it was incredibly watery with only a few small pieces of onion in the broth and the Crouton on top was not toasted and was just a soggy mass of bread sitting under some hastily melted cheese. While there were spoons included with our soups there was no other silverware provided to us until after we ask the waiter twice and finally had to get it from the manager when he dropped off my wife's entree. When he dropped off the entree my wife mentioned her uneaten bowl of French onion soup, and he said he was sorry and would take it off the bill. The fries that came with my fish and chips were so incredibly salty that I was only able to eat a few of them, but no one ever came back to check on us after bringing us our food so I felt there was no point in complaining at this point. I had also ordered a dessert at the same time as my soup in order to get the special that was offered, but as soon as our entries were half done the waiter came by and dropped the bill off at our cable and barely slowing down long enough to say "No rush with this, take your time". When he came back to pick up the bill I asked why the French onion soup was still on it and if I could have my dessert and he said "oh gosh I'll be right back with that". He grabbed the incorrect bill and my card and walked to the servers kiosk. After a few more minutes he dropped off our paid check on our table while running food to a table nearby and then disappeared back into the kitchen area for a further 10 minutes, seemingly not hearing me calling after him as he disappeared. The French onion soup was still on it and I had still not gotten my dessert, but my card has been already charged for the full amount including both of these. At this point I did not even feel like having dessert and just wanted to leave even if it meant paying for soup and dessert we didn't eat. I went to sign the check only to find he had not brought a pen. Having been fed up with this entire visit my wife and I simply walked out. Our card was charged, but there was no way that I was going to give even a penny of tip after this...
Read moreLet me start off by saying that my best friend n I have frequented this 99 many many times. But Friday June 28 2019 was my last time EVER GOING THERE! On this particular trip there were 4 of us, me, my best friend and 2 of her sisters one of which who came from Florida for a family wedding. Everything seemed fine, we were seated and our waitress Chris (a woman with short blonde hair) came, introduced herself and proceeded to take our orders. When she got to the second guest, instead of being helpful and list the sides, she instructed her to read the menu. And no not in A nice way. We let that go. She then moved On to the 3 guest (my best friend) My Best Friend ordered Nachos with no jalapeños and her entree, then came my turn. I ordered smothered sirloin tips as always. Before I could finish my order the waitress Chris decides she's going to tell me that she remembers me n my bff and that in a past visit we didn't tip her on an 80$ bill! So at first I think she's joking, but I soon realize she isn't. And she Repeats it again n goed on to say that she remembers cuz she was just starting out, we were a "hard serve" and that we didn't tip. First Of all whose bill comes to 80$ with 2 ppl at 99!?!, I explained to her that she definitely had us mistaken with someone else, not only do we always tip but that I several children who work and have worked for a long time in the food industry, so I make sure to ALWAYS tip. She Continued to argue with me, patrons were staring, listening, and we were all MORTIFIED. Our out of town guest had to ask her to leave the table and went and sought out the manager. She explained to the manager what had transpired, and the Manager was very apologetic. My Bff n I at this point decided to go outside to get some air. The Manager came outside and informed us that our table would be moved to a different section, and that he would "take Care of us." I personally could have cared LESS about a meal being "comped" and explained this , i also explained that my my level of embarrassment and my pride was passed that. But everyone else wanted to stay so we were reseated and a very attentive waitress took care of us. Still It didn't n won't take away from the embarrassment and anger that I felt. The kicker was she was not reprimanded or "delt with" as stated by the manager, their was no apology from her. As a matter of fact as we were leaving she was there, watching us and still waitressing. Because of this again I will never EVER...
Read moreThe atmosphere was typical of any chain restaurant. Just average. The waitress was spot on and handled our table of 7 with ease. Just a few things, though. I ordered the baked haddock. There was a very thin, long bone in the fish that I didn’t notice until it wound up in my mouth. Not cool, but it was fish and that can happen sometimes. The bread crumb topping was burnt and flavorless. Literally no flavor on this entree. I’m diabetic and didn’t really want potatoes or rice, and their broccoli is literally just run of the mill, unseasoned, more than likely frozen and microwaved broccoli. None of the sides are diabetic friendly, or appetizing. So, I was hoping to be able to substitute one of the two sides with a cup of their French onion soup which is phenomenal and was told they didn’t make substitutions, and that I would have to pay close to $8 for a bowl as an appetizer. Not cool. I didn’t opt for that. I instead opted for just one side of coleslaw. They gave me two, which I would never eat two, so one undoubtedly needlessly was wasted. The coleslaw was also extremely flavorless and soupy/runny. I come here a lot and my fiancé usually gets a burger plate that he is very happy with. I usually never get an entree, I usually just get onion soup and my friends get the wings, which they’re happy with. However, last night I decided to give an entree a shot. I found out that that probably isn’t a good idea if you’re on any kind of restrictions. You will wind up paying for stuff you won’t eat or can’t eat, and they “can’t” make any exceptions apparently. Waste of money for me. Pretty disappointing. Would’ve been 1-2 stars if not for the good service from our waitress...
