I have driven by this place thousands of times, and never once thought to go in. A few months ago, I finally did, and I thought to myself that I regret not going in sooner.
The coffee drinks are excellent. The fruit smoothies are excellent, as long as they have fruit available that you like.
I have had a few breakfast sandwiches here, and have immensely enjoyed them all. Fresh made, obviously not preformed and just reheated. They have enough options available to suit even the pickiest of eaters.
My wife usually has the Belgian waffles with fruit. Fluffy and tasty, and good sized, too much for her actually, so I can say they taste really good, as well.
The owner also offers a rare coffee experience that is hard to find in the US, kopi luwak. I have yet to try it here, but having consumed large quantities of the coffee, I look forward to sampling his suppliers coffee. (When I was in university, I had a friend who was married to an Indonesian woman, and she would send the coffee in all her care packages to him, while she was waiting for her visa to come here)
Prices here are not super low, but the quality more than makes it worth a trip here.
I look forward to trying more of the offerings and trying the kopi luwak.
Edit 10/16/18. Had a chance to try the kopi luwak. Amazing experience, the flavor was beyond my expectations. I’ve had it other places before, but coming from the coffee siphon, made it taste that much better. Plus the owner explains the process and how it works, why it works the way it does, and why he brews it as such.
The flavor was so good, it makes me want to invest in my own...
Read moreI have been to this place 5 or so times. Like others have said the drinks and food are good, the staff is also very attentive and cordial. However I have no idea how the staff is so positive when the owner is such a miserable jerk. I was there with two others today at noon and two people were in front of us in line. The owner shouted at us “I had a lot of call outs today and we have a very limited menu. I’ll try to make you a beverage and I don’t know what food we have.” He turned around and continued struggling to pour a drink and toast a waffle for the group in front of us. He offered no indication of what menu items were available as we stared blankly at the menu. He offered no apology or indication that he wanted to serve us. After 5 minutes he yelled “LAST WAFFLE” and continued. After 8-10 minutes of waiting, even though another staff member was there, we left.
I completely understand other reviewers frustration with his lack of customer service. Also, being cash only I’m sure he loves paying employees in cash and pocketing the tax dollars. His sign at the register “I hate morning people. And mornings. And People” encapsulates this man better than nay anecdote could. There are too many other good coffee places in the area for this guy to deserve your hard...
Read moreI've been going out to restaurants for a very long time. Over the course of these years, it has taken a lot to make me never want to return to a place of business again. However, this is a first for me because its not related to the main draws of the restaurant itself. Caffe Bon Ami is a great restaurant at first glance. The prices are cheap enough and the food is delicious. The service is a bit slow but its a busy cafe so its to be expected. My main grievance lies not within the restaurant itself but the management. While waiting in line to pay for my meal I saw a help wanted sign from management that made me lose my appetite. It worded things in a friendly enough manner until the end where it basically said, "we work our staff to the bone but if they are disabled or have health issues they will be fired." I have attached the photo of the help wanted sign to illustrate the problem. Bottom line: treat your staff right. I won't be going back to this cafe until this is resolved. Wait staff deserve better and any other establishment posting veiled discriminatory text towards new help will also lose my business for good. I've worked for years as a waitress before now and this offends me on a large...
