Really impressed by Legal Seafoods. They should have a higher rating than 3.3 on Yelp for sure. I know they have a lot of locations which is I didn’t have the highest hopes coming in.
The quality of the food was terrific and the service was excellent. Great portions as well.
It started with the hot/fresh rolls when we sat down. We all split the calamari - original style- which was fried nicely. However, this was the only dish that had a disappointing portion size. For close to $20, I expected more pieces.
I ordered the blackened yellowfin tuna ($41). It was cooked perfectly with nice flavor. However, my favorite part of the dish was the two sides I got with it. The curried vegetable medley was tasty, but the pad Thai style quinoa was out of this world! It had that typical pad Thai taste, and the amount given was super generous.
My mom ordered the crispy fish sandwich ($19). They were extremely considerate allowing her to sub out fries and coleslaw for other sides which more expensive. The fish sandwich was delicious as I had a few bites, but it could’ve used more fish itself.
I also had some of my Dad’s Anna’s Baked Haddock ($28.5). The piece was enormous. It must’ve taken up half of the plate and probably weigh a pound. The buttered crumb topping was delicious and the oven roasted broccoli was cooked very well.
We finished with the chocolate pudding cake ($12). It was incredibly moist and melts in your mouth. The texture was unbelievable. The molten center was fantastic and I wanted another after I finished. And I can’t believe it was gluten free.
We had an amazing waitress and she really knew how to do her job well. I think her name was Madison, she’s been working there over a year.
It’s very clean inside with a chill atmosphere and a huge bar in the middle.
Prices are on the higher side, but not too bad for a seafood...
Read moreI preface my review by noting I have a strong emotional attachment to Legal Seafoods and their fried seafood that goes back to:1) eating fried seafood platters with my entire family at Savin Rock in West Haven CT in the 60’s, then transposing those family memories into—2) eating in and ordering takeout from the original LSF in Inman Square, Cambridge MA as a pharmacy intern at Inman Sq Pharmacy in the 70’s and 80s. The Cranston LSF, as at the predecessor restaurant next to Warwick Airport, is a place I go to for great comfort food and camaraderie. Only for LSF can I say that over 45 years of eating there, I’ve never had one bad meal and I have always been greeted by smiles and hearty conversations during each visit. So many folks from LSF I could cite for exceptionalism but waitstaff stalwarts at TF Green rest were Justin, Cindy, and Sue and at Cranston we have Brian, Keith, Aislyn, Rose, Krista and managers Garry and John. All carrying on the dedication to quality food delivered in a warm eating environment established many years ago in Inman Square by the Berkowitz family. Given my consistently excellent eating experiences over almost a half century, please excuse me for agreeing with LSF’s former CEO Roger Berkowitz. I bristle at folks that see LSF as just a chain. I don’t associate the kind of experiences I’ve had with a...
Read moreOver the years, each time I fly in/out of PVD, Legal Seafood has been a constant. Now, the new-ish location is even better! Sure the low-slung old bldg gave the original place a certain je ne sais quoi but you will love the open, airy and fresh feel of the new location. The quality of food is consistent, even with the current (4/23) oyster shortage the 2 daily selections were excellent. The stuffed lobster 🦞 tail is to die for but you may want to order one of the amazing apps (tuna tataki = heavenly) and then share the lobster tail. The stuffed tails dish comes with 2 sides and the tails are not full of 'filler' like some places. Their lobster roll is the best in the area (near PVD and the new-ish mall). The bisque is tasty albeit less creamy than it usually is (maybe new chef?). Regardless, if you want an intimate dinner/lunch the booths are nice or if you're meeting friends for after work drinks, the new location is copious and has a great and delicious menu. Your GPS may mislead you, look toward the street (from, let's say The Container Store) and LS is tucked up in the corner. This place should be a mandatory eatery for anyone's visiting the...
