We visited Chaska on a weekday for lunch and we absolutely loved it! Mind you, we are an Indian couple and have lived next to OakTree road in NJ for years, and near a significantly Indian population in PA, so we know what Indian food heaven is and can be, so this one is heartfelt! We have struggled to find an Indian restaurant that gives us that “Aha” feeling for 6-7 years now, since we moved to the New England area, and I think with Chaska, we have found one! The ambiance is awesome, the decor is cool- each item has been designed thoughtfully- and the service is fast and very friendly. The menu is simple but different in many aspects compared to a “run of the mill” Indian restaurant. There are limited number of items on the menu, but each one seems to have something interesting in it.
Chaska presents an amazing fusion of Indian flavors for Indian as well as non-Indian customers. If you are looking for an “Authentic” Indian restaurant, Chaska may not be for you, but if you are looking for a flavorful India based meal that will make you come back to try the other items on the menu that you couldn’t try in the first visit , then Chaska is definitely for you!
We ordered a simple samosa chat, which had a nice qty for its price and was a nice blend of soothing food. The Samosas in most Indian restaurants seem to be over-powering and spicy, but these were very soothing and flavorful- I assume were home made. The spice level was mild but tasty. We got the jackfruit koftas and the stuffed kulchas for our main course and both were wonderfully fragrant and flavorful. The garlic naan was yummy as well and the lunch stuffed us for sure. We wanted more and so we went for the kulfi as dessert and that too was delicious. Not overly sweet but flavorful. Definitely felt like it was not coming from a box sitting in the freezer for months- felt like it was homemade, like it says on the menu.
All in all, a must visit place for Indian and non-Indian customers alike! We will definitely venture to Cranston just to visit Chaska...
Read moreSo unfortunate because I love Indian food and wanted to like this place. The waiter was so outstandingly rude to me and my wife that I’m actually still blown away by it. We came in very courteously and excited and he just kept rolling his eyes and not a hint of hospitality. That was even before I told him about my food allergy. First he wasn’t even going to ask the chef to confirm until I politely asked him to make sure because I didn’t want to get sick. After checking, he got increasingly rude when I asked about maybe other dishes that didn’t have what I was allergic too at one point even saying “Jesus Christ” under his breath and he was basically trying to force me into getting a dish I didn’t even ask about or mention. I settled on the flatbread which was good but not Indian. I know he can’t control my allergies but he could have controlled his attitude and behavior and instead chose to be quite blatantly rude to us way before I even mentioned them. I am a very generous tipper as I am also in the service industry and could not justify giving this guy what I normally tip or I myself work hard at to receive. It’s too bad bc there was another guy working there that was quite friendly and kind about it I’m guessing the manager. He was very nice and checked on us more than our actual waiter. Guess it’s hard to find good workers...
Read moreChaska is one the most loved Indian restaurants around Boston. We absolutely had to drive to Cranston RI to check it out - and we were not disappointed! We ordered: ⭐️Samosa chaat for $10 ⭐️Avacado sweet potato chaat for $11 ⭐️Dal makhani for $17 ⭐️Bagara Baingan for $18 ⭐️Chicken kadhai for $19 ⭐️Cucumber raita for $5 ⭐️Naan for $6 ⭐️Potato kulcha for $8 ⭐️Lamb keema for $15 ⭐️Chaska dessert platter for $18 ⭐️Masala chai for $5 For starters, both the chaats were yum, with the avacado sweet potato being a unique blend of flavors. In mains, Dal makhani was our favorite, it was so light and flavorful without any cream! The Lamb keema was delicious and so well cooked. In the naans, the onion chilli naan was a surprise, so tasty even just with raita! For desserts, their platter is the best - the chocolate banana pudding, mango coconut rice pudding, saffron pistachio kulfi, parle G cheesecake were heavenly for sweet tooths like us ! The Parle G cheesecake was my favorite, so creamy with nostalgic flavors of parle G. Their service is top notch too - such friendly and quick service. Thanks to Savio for taking such good care of us. This experience was well worth the trip; one of the best Indian restaurants in...
