I met two friends for lunch here yesterday and told the young server I had a dairy allergy. She assured me they could just not add butter to my meal, and that it wasn’t a big deal.
The rice came out looking like it was covered in butter, and my taste confirmed. I didn’t eat anymore. I couldn’t taste dairy in the rest of the food, and I should have confirmed with the server. However I was meeting friends I hadn’t seen in six months and we were busy catching up with each other. I regret this decision now. I spent most of the night in the bathroom, and my rheumatoid arthritis has flared up in my knee and fingers due to the dairy because it’s been confirmed with blood testing that it is inflammatory to my body. For the record, I’m 37.
I’m angry with myself for being distracted, and frustrated that they didn’t take my dietary needs seriously when I saw the server write it down.
The bathroom was filthy and smelled like a porta potty. In my opinion the bathroom is a mirror of the kitchen. Had I gone to the bathroom first I would have politely declined ordering food at all and just enjoyed my time with friends sipping water.
The server was friendly when we saw her, and my friends enjoyed their meals. The rest of my food, aside from the rice, was delicious. I couldn’t help but feel like they wanted us to hurry up and leave though, and noticed the older gentleman constantly looking over at our table or standing near it. They only refilled our water once, which seemed to confirm this for me at the time. There were still several tables available, and when I left there were only about eight other diners at three other tables. I’m giving 3 stars based on this, and because I can appreciate this seems to be a family establishment and I have zero intention of ruining...
Read moreFrom the moment my brother and I walked into Guru India, we knew we were in for a treat. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and it set the stage for what was to be an exceptional dining experience.
My brother opted for the lamb curry, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. The lamb was tender, succulent, and perfectly spiced, melting in the mouth with every bite. He couldn't stop raving about it! The portion size was generous, which made the meal not only delicious but also satisfying.
As for myself, I decided on the chicken curry, and it was equally impressive. The chicken was cooked to perfection, with a rich and aromatic sauce that enveloped each piece. The flavors were balanced and truly showcased the chef's expertise with spices. The affordability of the dish was the cherry on top, proving that you don't have to break the bank for high-quality Indian cuisine.
We were both struck by the excellent service at Guru India. The staff was attentive, friendly, and genuinely seemed to care about our dining experience.
What really impressed us was the extra mile they went to ensure our satisfaction. When we couldn't finish our meals, not only did they offer to box our leftovers, they did so with care and efficiency, ensuring we could enjoy the remainder of our delicious curries at home.
In conclusion, Guru India is a hidden gem that deserves every bit of a five-star review. With its great portion sizes, decent pricing, and outstanding service, it's a must-visit for anyone looking to indulge in authentic Indian cuisine. I'll be recommending this restaurant to all my friends and family, and I can't wait to return and try more dishes from their...
Read moreMy Sister and Brother-In-Law go here regularly, and I got invited. I was so happy, but even happier after the experience! Hadn't had Indian food since late 90's. So effectively I was a newbie all over again. Babu was our server. He was super-friendly, fun, easy to talk to, knowledgeable about heat levels, and which dishes may be to my liking based on some basic information. Food was really tasty! I got to try everyone's, and they mine-- Vegetable Pakora, Dal Soup, Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala, Chicken Tikka Misala (Special) Tandoori, and Chicken Biryani. Everything was cooked just right, had the spice levels we wanted, and the portions are large! I'll be having leftovers today for sure. Atmosphere is what I would say is simply "Authentic(?)" The restaurant isn't garishly over decorated, but the decorations present seemed like they may be family decorations that may have been brought from India, & it was pleasant! The restaurant was quiet for us, be we were there at "off hours", around 3PM-ish. Mostly take-out traffic. I would definitely recommend either eating there, or carry out. I would say--Try to eat in. I believe you will enjoy the service. Not only was Babu good, but we had more than one person checking to make sure we loved our food, and checking drinks. I will be going back for sure! I enjoyed everyone's hospitality, and appreciate...
