Stayed and ate at Dan's a couple of weeks ago via Harvest Hosts. We're headed back this weekend because the experience was simply outstanding. Great people, great food... like walking back in time when our country and the world was kinder and more people focused on quality and service. So many companies and restaurants cutting back on product quality due to inflation. Not Dan... my wife and I felt like it was the first time we've tasted a hamburger since our childhood days. Prices have been kept very affordable. In our opinion.. worth a several hour drive to experience Dan's plus the broader Cresco downtown (eg Cresco Theater, local shops, bakery, grocery store, parks, etc etc). ps - Dan took time away from making Smash Burgers to talk with my wife and I. He's a wonderful human being... and his staff...
   Read moreThere were six of us. We all ordered the smash burgers. All of us had trouble eating them because of the amount of salt that was dumped onto the burgers. Most of them were overcooked, appearing to have been âsmashedâ into a crispy oblivion. It was crunchy and even âsee throughâ on 1/2 of the patty. The bacon was cooked correctly, and the lettuce was crisp, though. The french fries were overcooked as well, mostly left uneaten and appearing more like shoestring potatoes. Other than that, our order was made as asked, even though there is no menu to look at and we had to get up and walk over to read the small written menu on the wall. I'm so tired of food trucks locally advertising their product as a smash burger then asking me what temp I want it cooked to, or receiving a hardly browned slab of gray meat. Dan knows what he's doing! I didn't need any sauce or anything, just burger patties and cheese on a quality bun with some red onion! The pickle was not good but it didn't detract from my delicious burger experience. If it wasn't so busy I would have gone into the kitchen and done unthinkable, UNGODLY things to him...
