I visited Jack’s Family Restaurant in Cullman, AL (11531 AL‑157) for a quick meal and had a mixed experience.
What I liked: The location is convenient and easy to find right off Highway 157. According to the listing, Jack’s has been serving Southern favorites like scratch‑made biscuits and hand‑breaded chicken fingers since 1960.
I appreciated that the menu had a variety of breakfast items (biscuits, eggs, sausage) and classic fast‑food fare (burgers, fries). Good for a casual stop.
The dining space seemed clean and well‑lit, and service at the counter was fairly quick.
What could be improved: I found the food quality a bit inconsistent; the burger I ordered was decent, but the fries were a little soggy and lacked seasoning.
While the décor was fine, it felt a little worn in places — the atmosphere could use a refresh to match some more modern fast‑food spots.
Given the menu and local expectations, some items felt slightly overpriced for what you get.
One reviewer on TripAdvisor mentions serious concerns at this location: “Bad food, bad service… chicken was bloody inside… management rude” which suggests there may be occasional larger issues.
Final Thoughts: Jack’s in Cullman is a decent option if you’re looking for a quick, familiar Southern‑style fast food spot—especially for breakfast or simple meals. It hits many of the basics: convenient location, variety of items, friendly service most of the time. However, it falls short of being stellar and has some room for improvement in consistency and ambience.
I’d give it 3 out of 5 stars, and I’d likely return if I had limited options. But next time I might go in with tempered...
Read moreUPDATE: On November 16, 2022 I went to Jacks on Main Avenue in Cullman to get some Unsweetened Tea. I ordered 2 Large Unsweetened Teas with extra Ice and ended up ordering 2 apple pies. When I got to the window to pay I realized that the amount was too low to be my complete order. The girl handed me 1 large tea and then my 2 pies. When I asked about my other large tea she said I only ordered 1...I told her I ordered 2. She then started entering charges on the cash register and asked me for $2.50 (including tax!) for the 2nd tea that they messed up my order by not preparing!! I paid the $2.50 and left. Upon getting home I tasted of the 2nd tea (yes, I knew which one it was!) and realized I had paid for their mistake and had gotten Sweetened Tea!!! I can't drink Sweetened tea due to diabetes!!! Jacks made me pay for their employees mistake and then gave me the wrong drink!!! Screw you Jacks!!! Your tea is actually more than Milos and I didn't think that was possible!! You never give extra ice when requested!! You frequently give Sweetened tea instead of Unsweetened tea which means your employees aren't listening to the orders!! Get your act together Jack's!!! Train your employees to listen when taking orders at the...
Read moreI hate to give a bad review but the grits was watering down and cold the hash rounds apparently had been there for a while.. The only thing that was really warm on the plate was the eggs. Everything else was lukewarm to cool... I would have took it back but I already the coupon to get a free meal... The manager seems if she had a problem today because she was rude... the cashier that waited on me was exceptionally nice just nice as she could be.. The lady in the dining room stayed busy. She was wiping down the trays, she was polite and had a smile on her face the whole time I was there.. don't bother sending any coupon because I believe I'm just going to have to go to another Jack's cuz I seem to have problems with this one I don't understand why it has to be that away. I went to the drive-thru just four days ago and it was an exceptionally great visit but today was really horrible.. I left there extremely...
