Auld Fella marries “elegance” with “Irish pub”. Tasteful nods to Irish poets and pop culture, luxurious but modern decor, and a full backlit bar, it has culture and personality. Not the kelly-green personality of your everyday Patty’s Pub, but an ambiance that begs a romantic date or a return visit when your family is in town. The classy atmosphere is why I initially reached out to the very-Irish manager, Jane, to see if I could use the venue to celebrate the life of my own very-Irish mother. For that reason and a million others, I will be visiting for years to come.
The food is astounding. You probably don’t often see critics raving about Irish cuisine—but Auld Fella elevates traditional dishes and adds a unique flair. The shepherd’s pies are textured and sumptuous, the kick of the Malay curry reminds you of Ireland’s rich history, the sandwiches with their crisped ciabatta are all so flavorful it’s impossible to choose one (though I recommend the Portobello). Only the drinks could distract me from the food. The “Auld Fashioned” has more spunk than any I’ve tasted in Los Angeles, and the warm, thick cream of the Irish whiskey is as comforting as a hug.
Maybe what makes the Auld Fella Irish whiskey so special is the way the bartender patiently warms my mug with hot water before he crafts the beverage. This gesture is just one small expression of the Auld Fella’s genuine culture of hospitality and warmth. I felt this every step of the way planning my event with the super-friendly Jane and the team. They rescheduled their staff appreciation day to accommodate my timing, they worked with me for weeks to plan, perfect, and print our menu, they ensured the food was neatly presented and warm, and they ensured I had a drink in hand during the event itself.
Despite opening their doors just a few months before the pandemic, the Irish transplants that founded Auld Fella have built an LA treasure and an authentic ode to Ireland that would make my late mother even more proud of her Irish roots! I cannot encourage you enough to see...
Read moreService - 5 Star! Elaine was a great server. She was very attentive, helpful, patient, and caring. We were greatly taken care of. This review is particularly for food. I chose this place over Ugo Cafe that my husband initially intended to go to. Food came out 5 min after placing the order. Almost 99% of the time, that happens only for precooked or frozen food. Fish and chips - chips were burned. Elaine did offer fresh batch, but we were getting late to leave cuz we had a small baby with us. However I'm surprised, the chef didn't bother to just take a look. Normally they can tell right away, because the fries were dark brown and bitter. Fish- well what can I say? Huge pieces to find out it was just a fluffy batter with may be a baby carrot size fish inside. One of the worst fish and chips I've ever had and you can barely go wrong with this item. My husband ordered sweet potatoe fries. They were saugy and really tasteless. Buffalo cauliflower tasted good, but it wasn't really a Buffalo sauce. The sauce they use for Buffalo cauliflower is the sweet and sour sauce that goes with egg roll or Philippino lumpia. I also got virgin margarita,, it was basically a very sour lemonade. Tasteless. Everything was disappointing and of course we paid about $100 for this. Both my husband and mom were nauseous for the remainder of the night. I didn't have any issue because I might habe eaten just few bites. I have nothing but gratitude for Elaine. However this place is not for us. None of us enjoyed our food. We won't be going back or taking or recommending our friends and family there. There are plenty of real good option in culver city...
Read moreHands down one of the most unforgettable meals my husband and I have ever had—Auld Fella’s is a culinary gem that stirs the soul. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we could feel the love, craftsmanship, and care poured into every detail—both in the space and on the plate.
Elaine, our incredible server, made our experience even more special. Warm, knowledgeable, and attentive, she guided us through the menu and recommended two absolute showstoppers: the New York Strip and the Rubenesque. Her suggestions were spot on—and that was just the beginning.
We started with the seafood chowder, fried mushrooms, and sausage rolls—each bite better than the last. Everything tasted homemade, elevated, and indulgent. Even the vegetables that came with the steak were bursting with flavor and perfectly prepared—yes, even the veggies were unforgettable!
And then… dessert. We ordered the sticky toffee pudding and the bread pudding with custard and vanilla ice cream, and I swear—I’ve been dreaming of them ever since. I had always wanted to try sticky toffee pudding, and now I’m ruined for life because THIS was the gold standard. Soft, warm, rich, and melt-in-your-mouth delicious—it was pure magic.
Every course left us speechless. This wasn’t just dinner—it was an experience. An indulgence. A memory.
Auld Fella’s is worth every single penny. If you’re wondering whether to go, this is your sign. Go. Savor. Indulge. Fall in love with food all over again.
You’re not just having a meal—you’re being fed with heart....
