Disappointed to say the least. 2nd time trying this place and both times were disastrous. Food was not as flavorful as I expected and the service was RUDE, and slow. Seriously need to train employees on food service and customer service. This last time i ordered takeaway. They told me 25 mins or so. I arrived after the afforded time and they told me ten more mins. I was surprised that it wasnt ready but I patiently and politely waited for my order. Several things were alarming to me during my transaction. I witnessed a health code violation. The cashier was really Rude at one point. I rode a motorcycle to the restaurant and was holding my helmet. When she handed my my drink with a straw in it I asked her if she could wrap it in a bag like they normally do for takeout at Thai restaurants when traveling as I am obviously on a motorcycle. she grabbed the drink out of my hand and threw the straw on the counter. I mean. What kind of employee representing your business does that??? I havent even gotten to the food yet. My wife who is not picky even said it wasnt good and it weirded her out. Chicken skewer- small. Rubbery. Dry and Cold. Did not taste fresh. Shrimp pad thai- flavorless. This is a standard Thai dish. How can this get messed up? Just seemed to lack the pazazz that I have grown accustomed to. Panang Curry Medium- NOT SPICY, little flavor. Not much to it. My least favorite part of the dish was the FROZEN PEAS and CARROTS. Shrimp also seemed a bit dried out and rubbery. I decided to give this restaurant another try due to the reviews I had seen. There are a lot of 5 star reviews so obviously there are people who love it. I did also see a lot of negative reviews regarding rude service and food issues so that said...Im not the only one to experience this. In my opinion 5 star is Awesome, food and service. 4 is pretty good, 3 is average, 2 is Meh. Meh minus one star is what I have to leave due to the unfriendly atmosphere and rude service I received. Just my opinion and my opinion alone but I believe Thai food is flavorful by nature, the lack thereof and the poor service that I received is just sub parr to my expectations and experiences. Certain things may take time and money to rectify but friendly service is free and pretty easy to achieve. My suggestion to you is try it for yourself, hopefully your experience will be different. As for the owners comment about me slamming the restaurant, it is not my intention to slam the restaurant or influence others, Im just stating my opinion about the food and service I received one night. I cant see it on Google but on yelp i have 200 reviews 4-star or above, 50 3-star, 40-2 star and only 60-1 star. I love to find amazing places, this might be one of them but just not my experience from a couple of visits.

So I was a part of the group that came here on New Year’s Day and had to sit thru terrible service. Zero interest from the waitress in actually taking our orders. We asked her what the restaurant was known for, what their main dish was, and basically got back that this is a typical restaurant with no stand out dish from her beyond the classics. She didn’t even take the entire tables order before going inside. How are you going to take the two guys orders and then when it comes to my order just disappear inside? Because the end result of that was everyone else got their dishes while my entree came out last. And it’s not like I was undecided on what I wanted and asked for a few minutes. The food itself was average. The iced tea has no sugar, and the waitress ghosted our table throughout our stay so we couldn’t even get any requested. I get drunken noodles everywhere and the noodles portion here was small, not that much beef, and was ok. The best thing I had food wise was the Panko fried shrimp. I walked inside to use the bathroom and the place was almost totally empty, and the waitress no where to be seen. This is also after we watched her from the outside eating her meal at the customer table...so yea I clearly see how super busy this place was that service wasn’t a consideration.

My wife and I visited Ekkamai last night during the final hour of service, about 15 minutes before the kitchen’s last call. We ordered the Chicken Tom Kah, Beef Pad See Ew, and Pineapple Fried Rice. The service was perfectly fine, and the decor is minimal but clean. Unfortunately, the food itself was disappointing. All of the meats were quite dry and had an unappealing texture. The flavor profiles leaned heavily into sweetness, without the balance of sourness or spice that fans of Thai cuisine expect. Overall, the dishes tasted predominantly salty and sweet, missing the depth and brightness that make Thai food so distinctive. It’s possible that visiting so close to closing time contributed to the quality issues — though ideally, that shouldn’t be the case. If we find ourselves really craving Thai and in the area, we might give Ekkamai another shot earlier in the evening. Otherwise, we’ll probably opt for other options.

I waited to give this review, I have been visiting this Thai restaurant for over three months now spending over $300. I have been trying their menu, going down the list of items I wanted to try. I’ve dined in, ordered takeout and delivery’s.

Before I talk about the food, what led me to this review is how I felt the last time visiting. I felt very unwelcome and extremely uncomfortable! After establishing myself as a consistent “returning customer” I felt an undertone of classism. I’m not the type to go around looking for negativity, so it was a series I’ve minor events that added up.

Just because you say “Hi” to everyone who enters your restaurant, doesn’t mean you are welcoming! Especially if you don’t mean it. The whole point is to make your customers feel welcomed. That goes beyond just a “Hi” & “bye” with nonchalant tones. I won’t elaborate on the minor subtleties but just know that I left feeling very unwelcome!

I’ve noticed the quality of food has dropped off. When I first ordered the Pad Ekkamai with my girlfriend at the time, it was one of the best Thai dishes I’ve had. And I’ve been all over the country from New York to California trying Thai dishes, including Thailand 🇹🇭.

I’ve noticed that the quality has severely dropped in a short amount of time. I asked the last time I sat and ordered if they had changed chefs because the flat noodle flavors have been extremely bland and flavorless the last 5xs I’ve ordered it. The feedback I got from my server was very short, didn’t understand me and made me feel uncomfortable for asking so I didn’t elaborate on what it was I was trying to convey.

I wasn’t done trying all of the items on the menu but after discussing with a friend how I felt & the drop in quality of food, I have decided I won’t be returning.

There are several other Thai restaurants in the metro LA area with a better quality of food bigger portions for the price and more importantly, don’t make me question if I’m welcomed or not (Ocha Classic in K-Town, Suki Time in Lomita to...

I have ordered numerous time online and have eaten in. But this last time, I was extremely disappointed.

First, I called after not receiving my order 20 min after the delivery time. The woman asked me to hold and I sat there and listened to her help at least two other phone orders (could you get some help please?!). I hung up. I called back only to tell me that I hung up and she had no idea where my order was. Again, I was put on hold. Instead of finding where my order was, I again had to hear her help other phone orders. I again hung up and called back for a third time. Finally, she told me that my order had left 20 minutes ago and there was a lot of traffic.... They ask for your number when you place an order online ... can't they at least text you to tell you if your order is going to be extremely late?

My order obviously arrived cold. I was ok with the fact that I could reheat most of the food ... but not only were the golden wontons rock hard ... they were chicken (I ordered veggie) .. I double checked my order to make sure I did not make a mistake ... nope ... I ordered veggie ... My whole order was vegetarian.

I again called to complain to ask for a refund. The woman did not want to, but she agreed and took my information. Well, that was a lie ... no credit on my account.

Maybe eating in or ordering through DoorDash is the way to go (my usual method). Not sure I want to trust a place that not only gets my order wrong, but then lies to me about giving...
