New Culver's first visit Saturday evening. This location is not as busy as other Culver's which is beneficial for quicker drive thru service overall. There were about 3 cars ahead of me to the drive thru order board but seemed to take a few minutes to progress but once at the board the order was taken quickly. The board speaker MUCH better than typical drive thru restaurants and order taker asked pertinent questions. Money taken quickly and courteously (we gave exact $) then we pulled up to wait for order delivery, which surprisingly compared to other (busier) Culver's was fast. This location had several delivery persons working concurently. As for the food, probably the best fish sandwich (fast food) I have had (I like the batter, not breading) which was soft and seemed fresh ( not compressed, properly flavor, no odoriferous) and sandwich fairly large size in a hoagie style bun. Cheese curds the breading is too heavy/thick and maybe a bit salty and very LITTLE squeak when chewing (real fresh Wisconsin cheese curds make a squeaking sound each chew, literally). Seemed a little over fried. Butterburger was generally 'average on the burger scale (NOT premier gourmet beef) but for fast food, very good very similar/competing with Steak n Shake. Crinkle cut french fries VERY high marks because we drove home and these were still very fresh (did not dry up, get cold too fast, get hard) and flavorful with proper amount of salt , and with a slight crunch when chewing. Overall, consistent quality range as with other Culvers. Now for this order, $23+ (the burger was a value meal combo) so probably a bit on the upper tier price range for a fast food order. Yet consistent high quality. So...
Read moreYou can't fault the ambiance of Culver's. Lots of brick and wood to give you a feeling of home.
In the past, I would have said that you can't fault the service, either. Not so sure, anymore....
The lady at the register was helpful enough but the server was gruff, unsmiling and unhelpful. We had to ask more than once for assistance in getting parts of our order and the server seemed to be bothered by our petulance rather than apologetic for the forgotten items.
My mother got a coffee. We won't make that mistake again. Barely lukewarm (no, we didn't try the Larry David nose experiment) and, unbelievably, they had no cream, non-dairy creamer or half and half. This in a shop that prides itself on outstanding Wisconsin dairy products, no less...
My mother also found her burger to be disappointingly soggy although, in fairness, my shrimp was good except for a dried out biscuit that came with it.
Overall, I was less than impressed which is especially disappointing in a shop that I had come to appreciate in the past.
Pro Tip Beverages are best avoided altogether here. Get a cup and enjoy some free water. And, whatever you do, I suggest that you stay away...
Read moreI don't eat out often because I cook and when I do I expect my food to be delightful and filling....Well The cashier was great but after that it went the opposite direction of great. I asked for a strawberry shake with meal, extra mushrooms on my burger, my daughter asked for chocolate custard with oreos added. Needless to say if they called that extra mushrooms I can only imagine what regular on the sandwich is. Then my strawberry shake Still tasted like vanilla and my daughters mixer wasn't right either. When asked about getting strawberry added to my shake and my daughter shake changed to chocolate custard instead of vanilla w/chocolate mix the kids (employees) behind the counter had something to say and after making the new shake she said I hope that that's enough if it's not I don't know what to tell you. I asked was it a problem because I can definitely take a refund (I spent $28) customer service is everything to me and it was not up to par here. We had to ask for ketchup and napkins which should have came on our tray. This will be the second issue I have had with customer service at this store, and yes I'm only 1 customers but I...
