Neat idea for a dessert place, items are tasty. I've been here a couple times. Stars knocked off because they apparently have a M-F price and a (higher) S-S price, but their menu board only posts the M-F price and the only way you learn about the S-S price is when you actually order and are verbally told it will cost more than the posted price you see right in front of you on the menu board.
Warning: The 3 flavor flight platter is apparently only available during M-F (their menu does not include this info ANYWHERE). Wish this was made clear on the menu board so when we ordered we weren't told, "because it's Sunday afternoon we wont offer it to you at the posted price ON OUR MENU BOARD, but you can order each item separately if you want three flavors and pay more". Felt like a bait and switch and cheap money grab. They said it takes more time to make, which doesn't make sense because I could order 3 items which is the exact same time to make each one. The main benefit of ordering 3 at a time was a getting a couple bucks off for ordering a higher volume (economies of scale). Honestly, I didnât really care about amount of shaved ice received. I wanted mainly to try multiple flavors which is why that option was appealing. Iâm only good for 4-5 bites of each anyways. Also, the place was barely half occupied when we went, so the "it takes too much time" claim was suspect. So, if they put a note on their posted menu that "this item is only available at this price during X times/daysâ, I would've rated higher than being told only AFTER ordering and offered an excuse that made no sense. If they want to have a M-F price and a S-S price, I get it, many restaurants do that. Just post it on your menu/price board so people can see it when they are making up their minds what to order. Don't just post the lower price and then try to charge more at the last second when the person orders. Honor what your menu says. If you want to put it on your menu board the times available for each item, cool. Just make it clear on your posted menu board and honor what the menu says for options/prices...
Read moreThis is just ridiculous! I had in my head that it would be more like a fine snowcone kind of consistency, but itâs not! It is definitely smoother than ice and far more flavorful, but it sort of melts in your mouth, Itâs very creamy like ice cream. When you get it on your spoon, it feels like youâre cutting into a piece of cake and itâs pretty like a cake as well. I got the piña colada, but since I donât like mango, I asked for them to switch it for strawberry boba and it is so delicious. My son got the Mounds which has the coconut ice like mine, but instead of pineapple has a chocolate snow and it is so much like ice cream, it sort of tricks you. My husband got the pineapple whip that only had pineapple like I had in my piña colada, and he is thoroughly enjoying it. It is a great choice when you really want ice cream, but not hungry enough. The young lady at the register was very helpful and seating is great inside or out if you want to see the concerts that they have in the...
Read moreLast night a group of us went to the City Center to see a show. after we went up to Penguin Shaved ice at about 8:45. They were not taking orders and turning people away....there was no one to help just a sign on the cash register that said "No More Orders".
The 6 of us left along with about 20 others who walked in at the same time. I walked back inside just to look at the lighted menu on the wall and saw that a regular cup was $8 and the large was $12.
So they are in business not to do business. Must be free rent from the city because any concerned owner on a Show night Saturday night would be shaving ice as fast as he could.
Wait until January when they try to...
