Rainbow Donuts and Boba (Previously Babo Boba Cafe) — Restaurant in Cupertino

2025-05 This business listing should probably be restarted or deleted. New management is changing the name, vibe and menu. I'm leaving my score as is because I got a passion fruit tea with lychee jelly in it, it was really good, and it came in a cute bear-shaped cup. But there are photos in this review that are out of date at this point.

2024-02 I ordered the passion fruit green tea with lychee jelly ($7.25), and the babo street box ($22) It took the boba 5 minutes to come out and the box was ready 18 minutes after I ordered. The moment I opened the box it just smelled overwhelmingly wonderful. The spicy sweet skewer is so satisfying. The sushi ingredients are a bit less exciting but the sushi is built beautifully and it's colorful so still cool. The popcorn chicken was fun to dunk into the salad dressing, and I did that with the greens too. The rice is ok but I'm more of a salad than a rice person. It's probably the size of 1.5 meals for me, I couldn't finish it in one sitting. Overall this is one of the best bentos I'd ever had and I just got back from a trip to Japan.

The tea was great too. A bit of a surprise was there were actual passion fruit seeds mixed in which was a crunchy surprise. I'm not sure how I feel about the seeds but otherwise I really liked the drink and lychee jelly.

I'm definitely coming back to try more things....

45 minutes for 3 drinks and 1 croffle! That's insane. People are everywhere. There was a customer almost all the way in the work area trying to get her order she was apparently waiting even longer than us. Finally, another work came in. Hopefully, she will help it move faster. I'm still waiting on our orders. Will update if/when we get it. I said we should get a refund and leave, but now it's like we've been here this long. Let's just see how long it will take. People next to us have been waiting an hour for 2 drinks also. Update they called our number to say there out of strawberry do we want a different drink we said sure thinking they were now making are drinks and he said he would refund the one drink which he did, however 20 minutes more and we go up to ask what the hold up is now and the guy that said they didn't have strawberry said they now don't have the croffle and said he told us (which he didn't I have the reciept were he only refunded the drink) either way still nothing. So he said they were making our drink right now(not). 10 more minutes. I can't believe we came all the way here for over an hour to wait on 3 drinks. Numbers we're being called out of order,...

I used to frequent Babo Boba when they were right next door to my apartment. Unfortunately they moved a bit further away, but I knew their new location had a lot of potential. And after a few visits, I think they're not only living up to it but constantly getting better!

Their drinks (coffee, tea, and specialties) have been pretty good. What I love is their array of unique offerings, such as the Whitepink (Signature Korean strawberry milk with real strawberries) and the Dalgona drinks (remember Squid Game?) This helps them stand out in the crowded boba market. And it seems that every time I return, they add new items to the menu. I'm looking forward to try more espresso drinks, for example.

The creativity and quality extends to the food, though I haven't sampled as much of their offerings (yet). The croffle in particular was delightful. Like with the drinks, they seem to be regularly adding more items.

The interior is clean and stylish, and the staff are friendly. You can order on the kiosks if you prefer.
