TL;DR Absolutely delicious and huge portions. We ordered 10 dishes: 3 bentos, 2 sides, and 5 drinks. I am confused by the negative reviews. Each dish deserves a 5 star rating just by itself. O2 Valley is delicious, fresh, and generous. I absolutely recommend it.
Overall Pros: Delicious flavor, fresh ingredients, quick execution.
Suggestions for improvement: The meat in the bento is sometimes too large. I think if some of the pieces were cut in half, they would be easier to eat.
Detailed breakdown:
Bentos: A2, A4, A6 We ordered 3 bentos: Chicken cutlet rice plate, Popcorn chicken rice plate, Braised pork chop rice plate. Each bento comes with rice topped with meat sauce, a whole soy-braised egg, two side dishes, and a gigantic portion of your chosen protein. Portion: The portions are huge. As you can see in the photos, each bento came with enormous amounts of meat. They literally had to keep the lid on with rubber bands, because there was so much meat that it wouldn't stay securely closed naturally. Flavor: The flavors are spot on. They have materialized the perfect taiwanese-style bento. The vegetables are fresh, there is lots of variety, and the meat is tender, juicy, and deliciously flavored.
Side dish: Basil popcorn chicken A3 Portion: So much chicken! This comes with a whole box filled to the brim with large chunks of popcorn chicken. Perfect size for two to share as a snack to accompany milk tea. Flavor: Seasoning is delicious, and the coating is perfectly fried. Even after a 20 minute drive in the car, the chicken was crispy on the outside, and juicy on the inside.
Side dish: Crispy king oyster mushroom A8 Portion: Big chunks of juicy king oyster mushroom! If you are looking for a lighter snack to pair with bubble tea, I highly recommend this. Flavor: The mushroom was well seasoned, but the star of this dish is the dipping sauce. Umami and slightly tangy, this sauce pairs very well with the natural mushroom flavor, and also with milk-based tea drinks.
Drinks: M1, M3, M5, L5, S4 We ordered 5 drinks: Three milk teas (classic, oolong, and paochung matcha), the lemon passionfruit drink, and the mango smoothie. Tea: The tea flavor is clear, layered, and delicious. Even with milk and 25% sugar, the predominating flavor in the drinks is fresh tea flavor. The tea itself frankly makes a trip to O2 Valley worthwhile. Boba: The boba is chewy and subtly sweet, with no hints of artificial or sour flavor at all. They are very generous with boba. I had some boba with every sip until the very end. Fruit-based drinks: I did not personally try these, but they received positive feedback from their drinkers.
If you are looking for a full meal, a snack, or just a cup of bubble tea, O2 Valley is the place to go. I absolutely recommend both their food and drink, and will be...
Read moreI used to love getting takeout here during the pandemic. I was excited when they separated from Chick & Tea to a more convenient location for me so I went there a lot when it first opened. The grilled squid was a surprise standout for me, absolutely delicjous with the basil leaves and the portion was large as well, which you usually don't see for the more expensive seafood itemd. Of course, the fried chicken cutlet, as a staple in a Taiwanese bento place, was good as well. If you want to switch it up but still get fried goodness, the fried pork cutlet is a good alternative.
The cons are that the prices have increased steadily, the side dishes aren't good, and the quality has gone down. Another bummer is that they used to have stamp cards where you can accumulate points for drinks, fried chicken cutlet, etc., but they abolished it to an online system. They even converted our stamp card points when we were already completed one stamp card. I mean, at least honor it if it is finished and we worked hard to get those points. But never matter. It's mostly about my recent visit where the popcorn chicken didn't taste as good as before. Also, I don't recommend the fried fish. It's quite expensive for what it is.
There is plenty of indoor seating and a unisex bathroom. Parking is in a small one-way...
Read moreWe tried to come to this place a few times and each time, flavors have been pretty inconsistent. The first time, We only ordered drinks and milk tea and sea salt drink were very bland. Second time we got a couple bentos and the rice was hard.
This is our 3rd time coming (this place is close by and we really wanted to like this place as it is convenient). We got grilled pork bento and grilled chicken bento. Side dishes are pretty good, although the tea egg is very rubbery with little taste. Our pork and chicken were surprisingly crunchy for grilled dishes (we didn't mind this! Texture was actually good), but they were not savory rather they were sweet! So if you like sweet meat dishes, this might be a good taiwanese bento place to try.
If you prefer savory bento and would like to venture out, you should try Ajito Japanese bento place nearby. They're a little more expensive, but they have really...
