A Symphony of Flavors
Now, let’s talk about the food—Yayoi Cupertino truly excels in delivering a symphony of flavors that transports you straight to Japan. Each dish is a masterpiece, crafted with fresh ingredients and meticulous attention to detail.
Start your culinary journey with their signature Yayoi Bento, a vibrant platter that features a delightful assortment of sushi, sashimi, and tempura. The sushi is fresh and expertly rolled, with each piece bursting with flavor. The rice is perfectly seasoned, providing a fantastic balance to the fish, which is sourced daily to ensure top quality.
Don’t miss out on their ramen, which is a comforting bowl of rich broth that simmers for hours to achieve that deep umami flavor. The noodles are perfectly chewy and the toppings—including succulent chashu pork, fresh greens, and soft-boiled eggs—make for a fulfilling meal.
Vegetarians will find plenty to love as well, with options like the vegetable tempura, which features a light, crispy batter that allows the natural flavors of the vegetables to shine through. It’s a dish that’s as pleasing to the eye as it is to the palate.
To top it all off, their matcha cheesecake is a must-try dessert that beautifully marries the earthiness of matcha with a creamy texture, leaving your taste buds dancing with delight.

Read moreI came here looking for a bento type of place, that serves most foods over rice or with soup. Also looking for a lot of nonseafood items for my guests and family since they prefer to not eat seafood. Yayoi specializes in western Japanese cuisine called Teishoku, which looks kind of similar to bento boxes.
Yayoi is located right next to Chipotle, with the light brown door it’s a little hard to see the entrance. When ordering your food, they have the booklet menu, as well as, on their ordering tablet. This place is surely modernized since everything is ordered through the tablet (even water).
《Food》 What I ordered for myself was the salmon don, matcha tiramusu, and jelly anmitsu. The salmon was fresh, over a bed of shredded egg over white rice. They also gave a small side of wasabi and soy sauce. The tiramisu was sweet and delicious, as well as my anmitsu. Although, I think they used canned fruit in the anmitsu and the portion size was kind of small... my guest said their katsu don was pretty sweet, tasted like the staff put sugar in everything and that his portion was smaller than e
《Customer Service》 So there were a few issues with service since the ordering tablet takes away from personal service. When they brought out food, a server spilled a little soup and didn’t clean it up. We had a table of 5, one being on the edge so the lunch trays were getting in the way. So one server recommended to take away a tray to make room for everyone, which was nice. But when my grandma asked for her tray to be taken away, a different server seemed hesitant to and almost refused her. I felt like, if a server was okay with it then another should be okay with it too. My grandma is very traditional Japanese, so when it comes to going to modern places, she expects the service to be of what she’s paying for. Overall, she thought the service was terrible for the price of food we got.
UPDATE Came back and ordered their Katsu Toji with my family of 4 at lunch time. I don’t know what their issue was, but they were super slow at serving our food. The appetizers came in the middle, and a huge wait gap per dish. So my Katsu Toji tasted like pure sugar? The egg , onions, rice, katsu was so sweet I couldn’t eat it. And the big issue with my food today was the pork katsu tasting not so fresh?! It honestly tasted like it was frozen and not even cooked at some point? Felt like I was served some chewy-inedible piece of fried pork for an animal.. not sure if I’ll be...
Read moreBeware customers, they’ll substitute ingredients without telling you and claim that it’s not their fault. Went to the Cupertino place at 7:30 pm last night to dine-in. Ordered una ju with udon, mini karaage and omaze don with mini udon.
So the omaze don with udon comes out first, and we try the udon; It was grossly overcooked. It felt like they cooked the udon in boiling water for twice as much than the suggested time. After we asked them to remake the udon, we realized they didn’t serve the whole set. Can you spot the difference from this picture and the picture from the menu? They forgot to bring rice, egg, and grated yam. I understand they can make mistakes, so we ask them again to bring rice, egg and grated yam. They finally bring the rice and egg but no grated yam. We ask the waitress that she forgot to bring yam again, and she finally admits that they don’t have yam. We were like “what? The only reason we ordered omaze don and not salmon don was because of the yam “. She shrugs off and claims that it is not their “fault” that they don’t have yam. We talk to the manager and he also diverts the blame to the vendors and won’t say sorry. Well, it is their fault having serving something different from what the menu says. So we ask them to take the food back but at this point our night was ruined and we were really upset that their staffs act entitled where customers should take whatever they serve. If the waitress or the manager had said sorry for not explaining upfront, we would have just ate it and moved on. Japanese restaurants are known for hospitality and service but not Yayoi. Don’t expect to get what’s on the menu people, they’ll serve whatever they have and claim that it’s not...
