I just ate here today and I will not be coming back. My grandpa has been a regular here for years but after today Iâm going to make sure that he doesnât eat here anymore. I came to eat today with my wife, sister, and my two daughters aged 11 and 9 months. So upon being given the menu we noticed that they had penciled in price changes to the menu. They changed the 3âs to 8âs so instead of the churrasco being 23.99 it was now 28.99 to me thatâs understandable due to the raise in gas prices itâs inevitable that prices of things are going to go up. So when we order as our side we asked for French fries and they were out. Then we asked for mashed potatoes but they were out of that too. Next we asked for chicken tenders from the kids menu and they were out of that too. (This restaurant is located in a Publix shopping center and across the street from BJâs) None of this really affected my outlook on the restaurant specifically but when I think of it all together it was pretty ridiculous. When the food arrives the meat was over cooked. The arepa tasted like nothing. But still I had a great attitude and said nothing even though service was not good and I was never brought out a refill of water throughout the entire meal. The straw that broke the camels back was the end. They would not bring me the bill. I had to send my wife home with the baby and my other daughter while we waited. After 20 minutes the bus boy came and even cleaned the table and they still didnât bring us the check. I asked him I asked our waiter and she just kept either ignoring us or saying she was going to bring it now. She then came to the table next to ours and got their order and still did not attend us. I had to get up and go to the counter and basically beg for the bill in order to leave. I almost walked out. Then when they finally bring me the bill (I am standing at the bar because they never brought it to me at the table) it has gratuity included at 15% after taxes. So to top it all off I paid the absent employee $15 to ignore...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at Macitas Colombian Restaurant, and I can confidently say it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The moment I walked in, I was greeted warmly by the staff, who immediately made me feel at home. Their attentive and friendly service set the tone for the entire meal.
The menu at Macitas offers a delightful array of authentic Colombian dishes, each prepared with care and bursting with flavor. I started with the empanadas, which were perfectly crispy on the outside and filled with a savory, well-seasoned mix of meat and potatoes. For my main course, I opted for the bandeja paisa, a traditional Colombian platter. Every componentâfrom the tender, flavorful carne asada to the rich, hearty beansâwas cooked to perfection and tasted incredibly fresh.
The portions were generous, and each bite transported me straight to Colombia. The attention to detail in the food was evident, with vibrant colors and exquisite presentation that added to the overall dining experience. I also tried their passion fruit juice, which was refreshing and a perfect complement to the meal.
The ambiance of Macitas is cozy and inviting, with Colombian music playing softly in the background, enhancing the cultural experience. The staffâs knowledge and passion for the cuisine were apparent, and they were more than happy to provide recommendations and explain the dishes.
Overall, Macitas Colombian Restaurant excels in both service and food quality. Itâs a place where you can enjoy a true taste of Colombia in a warm, welcoming environment. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to indulge in authentic Colombian flavors with top-notch...
Read moreOkay, this place used to be The Place to get excellent Colombian cuisine. From the bakery items to the main courses, everything used to be a delight. Also, the previous Head Chef who was here for many years was on top of everything and the blend of flavors were sensational. A few years ago their head chef and longtime business partner left and eventhough main owner had all the recepes in the books it was just not the same. Its kinda been trying to fill these big shoes that only one person could fill. Not just the food, but the standard and level of service and attention to detail was lost. Moreover, through the years coming here, it seems they started using low grade flour products with alot of gutten, this damaged especially their line of pan de bono and other items, which was reknowned. Also, the items coming out of the kitchen began to be just something bland. I continued to come despite these things if hopes that things would turn around and the owner would see through. And I began to give back input to the waitresses and managers about the coffee, about the bakery, about the details, and how things were just bland. However, I found myself instead of it being constructive criticism, I ran into a wall. Theirfore I realize that this place will continue on a downward trend until it probably looses all of its clientel. Guess nothing last forever. But my heart is torn that we lost such...
