Oh, hey, THIS PLACE IS GREAT. I grew up down the road from it, when it was a skeevy-seeming bar called Frankie's that I only ever went to once, for a friend's dad's band's performance. It was as expected.
So when Frankie's closed for a year & transitioned to Darby's, I was skeptical. Their space is teeny-tiny, it's in a sort-of-weird location... How good could it be? But I kept hearing, over & over, that it was outstanding, so I finally gave it a try.
A+, two thumbs up, would go back again on repeat.
The space is gorgeous, totally revamped from its Frankie's days. It feels very clean & a little bit fancy, & somehow much bigger than before. Their food options are broad, from burgers & wraps to strip steak, scallops, & fried chicken with mac & cheese. I feel like there's something for everyone (& every wallet preference) on their menu. They also offer a few different kinds of sliders, none of them burgers, which is sort of an interesting twist. Their lunch prices are particularly reasonable, & as a dinner spot, Darby's is suitable for a date, a meal with Mom, or catching up with friends - casual or a little bit upscale.
At night, Darby's transitions from restaurant to bar, with craft beer options & basic beer options alike, in addition to a full bar, that make it a great space for casual weekend nightlife.
I'm a fan....
Read moreFirst and last time here. Ordered a wedge salad and cutting into it, as the dressing started to slide off, I could see red all over the lettuce. This is called rusting and is usually cause by improper storage or exposure. It is careless and unappealing. Charging over $14 for a salad and not even bothering to serve fresh lettuce when a head of lettuce cost approximately $2 right now, is representative of the amount of attention and care they show in their food and service. This salad is something that doesn't even need that much attention, literally just make sure it's fresh. So if this is the lack of attention and quality given to something that doesn't need cooked or prepared, imagine the lack of attention and quality put into food that does need it. Wait for it..... Now my husband and I did get the calamari as an appetizer. It was very rubbery which indicated it is frozen calamari and was really salty. It was Taco Tuesday so you can't really go wrong ordering tacos right? Wrong! Maybe they used all the salt on the calamari, but we received the most bland boringest tacos to ever grace a tortilla. Did I leave here and have to go get food somewhere else? Yes, yes I did. Also to note: no owner or manager ever came out to acknowledge this, so it kinda tells you everything you need to know...
Read moreMy wife and I went to this restaurant this evening to have dinner at this place; we waited 25 minutes to be seated; after which we ordered our food; I got the scallop dinner; half way thru the dinner I found a long hair embedded on the bottom of my risotto.... I let the waitress Sarah, know about this; she took the plate back to the kitchen and one of the "owners"; TODD, came to our table to tell us that nobody in the kitchen has that color hair??? and don't know how it got there and they all wear caps??? Well... what was he trying to say?? Felt very insulted as a customer... and I expressed my sentiments regarding his thoughtless apology!!! That is when this IDIOT had the audacity to tell a perfectly good customer to pay and get out!!! Our bill was $69.00 and I paid $100.00 CASH and told him to keep the change and I am not here for his charity!!! He went as far as to tell me and my wife that he will call the police if we didn't leave and wanted to talk to me in the parking lot??!!! These guys should never own a restaurant!!! I am a business owner; I own several business nationally and internationally... never had I ever experienced such ignorance......!!!!!!! Such a disgrace in your own back yard!!!! Totally Ruined...
