This was my first time coming here, and it was two people - an adult and child. We got there around 10am and it was starting to get busy. We were initially offered a seat by the door, but I asked to be seated elsewhere due to the 16 degree weather and not wanting to be hit by a draft each time the door opened. The front of house team accommodated this without issue. We were put in the bar side, and it was super cute and comfortable. I liked the vibes. We immediately were given waters and got a few minutes to scan the menu. The website had reflected a sweet potato hash and pumpkin pancake special, but neither was reflected on the specials menu when we arrived; I'd hoped to try one of those. It looked like they recently turned over specials.
Richard served us, and was very accommodating. My kiddo got a vegetarian version of the brunch burger and I got the vegan skillet. I appreciated the inclusivity, specifically that vegetarian options existed. Most Ohio establishments struggle to intentionally call out plant based options let alone offer some additional plant based proteins (like Impossible or Beyond).
The vegan skillet was a different option than what you could get at many breakfast places. It was a nice variety of ingredients, but it tasted kind of meaty. If you are a vegetarian and sensitive to cross contamination and things bring in close proximity to meat, this might be one to avoid. If I come back, I might pick the blueberry crumble or something that isn't placed on a skillet. I also got a biscuit instead of toast (note above on accomodations provided by staff). Unfortunately, it wasn't the biscuit of my dreams - kind of small and kind of dry.
My daughter got the brunch burger but we asked for the vegetarian option. They put what looked like real bacon on it. We asked for American cheese, but the burger came out without it. I didn't ask about this though, as my kids was hungry. We asked for the egg to be scrambled and on the side (again, a nice accommodation). The scrambled egg wasnt soft or fluffy. It was kind of solidified and chunks could be cut off with a knife. My daughter loved the potatoes.
The time to get food was longer than I expected, but the place was also filling up. It also probably felt longer because my kiddo was impatient.
There is only one bathroom for women and one for men. The bathroom (for women) had a little line when we were there.
There is an additional fee for using credit cards that is modest (and understandable!).
There is a nice sized parking lot. Turning onto Front Street can be interesting if you have a truck or SUV because it's hard to see to the left given where the building sits.
Ultimately, vibe wise, it was great. Staffing/service wise it was great. Inclusivity wise it was also great. Food wise, there are some improvements needed.
I'd like to see veggie tempeh bacon and a vegetarian gravy for biscuits and gravy.
All in all, an OK experience and I think refinements are always possible.

Read moreI guess the best place to begin is the beginning. My lady and I got our alcohol drinks that were on special. I took a sip and so did she. We both looked at each other and was like "not bad". I then watched her face change from delight to disgust. As she fished out a fat bug from her drink. We then noticed that her drink had other bugs in it. We stopped counting at 6 or 7. Needless to say we did not finish the drinks. We sent them back. At this point we knew that we were taking a gamble by actually eating the food. But we tried to be nice about it. They just opened. We were trying to have high hopes and to give them a chance. We live close and we were hoping that we had found a good place to come grab drinks. Now when we first walked in I wanted to go sit at the bar. My wife did not. So we didn't. The bar was a very dark room. Had we gone to the bar area she may not have noticed the bugs. Our appetizer was fine I mean it was nothing to really go on about I mean it was just deviled eggs. But at this point when we ordered food we had not witnessed the bugs in the drink. So like I said appetizer was just okay. We both got burgers. One of us got onion rings one of us got fries. Everything we had was of Walmart quality. Everything was like as low budget as a restaurant can get away with. What I assume was a manager came to our table to apologize. I simply said "You gotta close those bottles at the end of the night. You can't leave them open." To which she replied "We do." Which I did not believe. I am willing to bet that they did not try to find which bottle / bottles has bugs and did not toss out. Had I been thinking about it I would have asked her what her course of action was to make sure that it didn't happen again to someone else. I guarantee you seven or more fat bugs didn't crawl into that bottle at the very same time right before the bartender made our drinks. Now that would be a coincidence if I had ever seen one. Oh and we had a touch of food poisoning the next day. So eat and drink at your own will. We will not be going back.. ever. If they said that we could eat there free for the rest of our lives we would simply pass on that one. The server was...
Read moreI really like this place. The owners have done an amazing job of converting what many considered to be a dive bar into a really happening breakfast and lunch spot. I just have a few suggestions having been there a few times. The first one is try to guide people to one specific door. That way there's less confusion when multiple people walk in from multiple doors about who got there first who needs seated first or what's going on. I recommend using the back door because it's ADA accessible and that way the servers and everyone else knows where to look for new people coming in. Additionally I do know that there is a sign on the side door that says watch your step. But it's paper and printed out and it has faded in the sun. By the time people are close enough to read it they've already tripped over the step. Try getting a placard and putting it on the door. So people can see it as they walk up to the door. Finally your specials are amazing. But you have to leave your table to go read them on the board. You have three distinct areas in the restaurant. The bar area the main dining room and the outside dining room. Make either a table standee a menu insert or a menu edition that has all the specials on it so that everyone can read it and they don't have to get up and move or ask questions. My server happened to be new and hadn't learn all the specials yet and she had to go read it. It's just easier for everyone around if you do that. I would say there was it the only things that I've really noticed or things that I didn't like other than that it's an amazing restaurant and I look forward to its...
